Three-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub and previous nominees Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin and Charlie Sheen are up for lead actor in a comedy, but don’t forget about newcomer Lee Pace.
The 29-year-old stars in ABC’s Pushing Daisies as a pie maker who revives the dead with a touch and can permanently send them back to their fates with another.
Pace, who’s acted in Broadway plays and films such as The Good Shepherd, initially didn’t want to work on TV.
“I was worried at first about the plot, but they pulled it off, all that psychic phenomenon stuff,” he said according to IMDb.
Lucky for him. Besides the Emmy nomination, he was also nominated for a Golden Globe earlier this year.
Pace told the Associated Press he found out the good news when his dog woke him up early.
“He doesn’t care about the Emmys. But when I got up and saw I had a lot of messages, I knew what it meant. It’s nice and I’m really happy…”.
Yet his newfound fame hasn’t the changed the modest actor who next stars in Possession with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
“I’d rather stay reclusive at home with my dog,” he said.
