Hollywood Heartthrobs Of The Past, Where Are They Now?28 Comments

Take a moment to think about some of the biggest hollywood names of nineties entertainment…got them yet? Sure there’s a few, but how about these three in particular: Freddie Prinze Jr., Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Kevin Bacon. All names we know, but where have they been? Well, I’ve got the info for you on what they’ve been doing and their newest upcoming works.

Freddie Prinze Jr.: Well, we haven’t seen much of him since the brief run of his own sitcom, “Freddie”, and that was in 2005. Since then, this former heartthrob has kept himself busy with some voice gigs, a few guest roles on “Boston Legal”, and even some small scale movies in 2006 and 2007 that didn’t get much buzz.

This year however, his latest movie “Jack and Jill vs. The World” was released. In this movie, he takes on the lead role as Jack (could you have guessed?) opposite Taryn Manning (another face we haven’t seen in a while) who plays Jill (shocker). Otherwise, Freddie has been busy enjoying his happy marriage to his wife of six years, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas: Not too much (unfortunately) can be found on the former child star who won us over in countless hilarious roles, for example as Tom Sawyer in “Tom and Huck” or as Tim ‘the tool man’ Taylor’s son, Randy on the show “Home Improvement”.

His most recent endeavors include a role as The Director in a movie called “The Extra” with Ryan Stiles (who name you might recognize from the popular improv comedy show “Whose Line is it Anyway”), about an actor who’s stuck being an extra in student films. Otherwise, JTT (as he used to be called) has been living life as a full time student. In Fall of 2001, he enrolled at Harvard University to study history and philosophy, and now attends graduate school at Columbia University.

Kevin Bacon: No, the free, footloose, fun-loving actor hasn’t been in the public eye lately – at least not in an extreme capacity, but yes, he has been busy.

First of all, he’s happily married to Kyra Sedgwick of “The Closer”, a well-known crime drama, for which he’s even directed a few episodes. He’s also just wrapped up a role in a film called “New York, I Love You”, set for release in February of 2009 – an anthology of love stories that take place in, you guessed it, New York.

Some of his costars include Rachel Bilson, Hayden Christensen, Orlando Bloom, Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman, and Christina Ricci. Presently he is in the process of filming “My One and Only”, a comedy set in the 1950’s with Renee Zellweger. This film as a 2009 release date as well.

So, there you have it, the whereabouts and happenings of three great actors who seemed to have been M.I.A., but who actually (for the most part) have been extremely occupied. Maybe it has something to do with that old cliche: You can take the kid out of Hollywood, but you can’t take the Hollywood out of the kid!
