Ladies, donât we know men are always one step behind? Just kidding, guys.
Seriously though, many male stars best known for their film roles are succeeding female film stars by making the move to the small screen.
With the exception of Alec Baldwin joining â30 Rockâ, film actresses have inundated your TV for the past couple seasons. âFatal Attractionâ femme fatale Glenn Close joined âDamagesâ. After she was âThe Flying Nunâ, Sally Field acted in many films before returning to TV on âBrothers & Sistersâ. Oscar winner Holly Hunter stars in âSaving Graceâ, and Kyra Sedgwick became âThe Closerâ after a parlay in films like âSinglesâ and âSomething to Talk Aboutâ.
Perhaps male film stars took notice after all four of these women recently scored Emmy nominations for Best Lead Actress in a Drama and they want to bask in the TV limelight too.
Hereâs a look at male film actors coming to television in the fall:
Christian Slater (âHeathersâ, âWindtalkersâ) – Slater stars in NBCâs âMy Own Worst Enemyâ as a man with two very different personalities.
Josh Lucas (âPoseidonâ, âSweet Home Alabamaâ) â Lucas is in charge of a family-run pharmaceutical business in Showtimeâs âPossible Side Effectsâ written, directed and executive produced by Tim Robbins.

Simon Baker (âThe Devil Wears Pradaâ, âLand of the Deadâ) â After a stint on CBSâs short-lived âSmith,â Baker stars in CBSâs âThe Mentalistâ as a⊠you guessed it⊠mentalist.
Sean Bean (âFlight Planâ, âNational Treasureâ) – Bean costars in NBCâs âCrusoeâ based on the novel, âRobinson Crusoe.â
Kurt Russell (âTombstoneâ, âTequila Sunriseâ) & Laurence Fishburne (âThe Matrixâ trilogy) â The movie actors âEntertainment Weeklyâ reported are the top choices to replace William Petersen when he leaves âCSIâ after this season.
