For those who thought Jasmine Guy, best known for her comedic spin as Whitley Wayne in the Cosby Show spin-off A Different World, retired from the scene, news flash: Ms. Guy is making her directorial debut in Atlanta, GA this month with For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.

Since the end of the TV series, she’s starred in several films, including Harlem Nights with Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, and moved on to Broadway…And somewhere in there she found time to author a book with the mother of slain rapper, Tupac Shakur.

Guy’s show debuts Aug. 22 and runs through the 31st.
