Anne Hathaway first gained widespread recognition for her role in “The Princess Diaries” opposite Julie Andrews. Moving away from family-friendly films, she had a notable role in “Brokeback Mountain” directed by Academy Award winner Ang Lee. I caught up with the bubbly star last year at Hollywood Life Magazine’s “Breakthrough of the Year Awards” where she was being honored for her performance in “The Devil Wears Prada”.

Kristen Aldridge: You look amazing tonight!

Anne Hathaway: What a warm welcome, thank you so much, you’re so sweet!

Kristen Aldridge: How does it feel to be honored tonight?

Anne Hathaway: It’s so nice, I could be at home in sweat pants eating popcorn and watching E! True Hollywood Stories so it’s nice to get dressed up and have people think I’m worth something, I don’t know.

Kristen Aldridge: You’ve already worked with so many great actors, of course Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada”, and directors Ang Lee and Garry Marshall
do you have a list of dream people you would like to work with next?

Anne Hathaway: Tim Burton! But I do have a lot of exciting things coming up so I’m very pleased with who I’m working with, but if I could add to the list of dream people, it would be Tim Burton. I think he’s an amazing visionary, so cool – and I think he’s got great hair! (laughing)

Kristen Aldridge: (laughing) What has been your favorite memory from this past year?

Anne Hathaway: In terms of professional, I went away the weekend “The Devil Wears Prada” opened. I loved the film so much that I didn’t want to jinx it, and I wanted to have a great weekend regardless. So getting the call that it had done so well the opening weekend, and I was in the South of France thinking, “I don’t think life gets any better than this!” So having once in a lifetime gifted moments from God is pretty cool!
