Anne Hathaway first gained widespread recognition for her role in âThe Princess Diariesâ opposite Julie Andrews. Moving away from family-friendly films, she had a notable role in âBrokeback Mountainâ directed by Academy Award winner Ang Lee. I caught up with the bubbly star last year at Hollywood Life Magazineâs âBreakthrough of the Year Awardsâ where she was being honored for her performance in âThe Devil Wears Pradaâ.
Kristen Aldridge: You look amazing tonight!
Anne Hathaway: What a warm welcome, thank you so much, youâre so sweet!
Kristen Aldridge: How does it feel to be honored tonight?
Anne Hathaway: Itâs so nice, I could be at home in sweat pants eating popcorn and watching E! True Hollywood Stories so itâs nice to get dressed up and have people think Iâm worth something, I donât know.
Kristen Aldridge: Youâve already worked with so many great actors, of course Meryl Streep in âThe Devil Wears Pradaâ, and directors Ang Lee and Garry MarshallâŠdo you have a list of dream people you would like to work with next?
Anne Hathaway: Tim Burton! But I do have a lot of exciting things coming up so Iâm very pleased with who Iâm working with, but if I could add to the list of dream people, it would be Tim Burton. I think heâs an amazing visionary, so cool â and I think heâs got great hair! (laughing)
Kristen Aldridge: (laughing) What has been your favorite memory from this past year?
Anne Hathaway: In terms of professional, I went away the weekend âThe Devil Wears Pradaâ opened. I loved the film so much that I didnât want to jinx it, and I wanted to have a great weekend regardless. So getting the call that it had done so well the opening weekend, and I was in the South of France thinking, âI donât think life gets any better than this!â So having once in a lifetime gifted moments from God is pretty cool!
