The warm and fuzzy sequel “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2″ starring Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn explores situations such as estranged grandmothers, a pregnancy scare, forgiveness, and discovering independence. It is being compared to “Sex and the City,” but the two movies only have one common trait – four talented leading actresses. The acting and relationships are sweet and genuine, which makes watching this movie an emotional roller coaster.
Pros:
Seeing what family means to the different girls.
Without these actors, it would be a different movie – this is a terrific collection of actors who have had some time to develop their acting abilities – and it shows!
It’s not about men – Nor is it solely about finding the perfect man or getting married (which, as a woman, I really appreciate).
Cons:
The character of Julia – at first, “Julia” was a “Pro” because, despite being disappointed by losing a lead role in a play to friend Carmen (Ferrera), she encourages her – at first. But, by the end, she’s become the mean girl stereotype we were expecting. Very disappointing.
The movie is a little long.
Unique Qualities:
The acting talent is obvious. Each girl is a team player in an ensemble but steps up to the plate to take the lead in their own scenes. Their acting feels true, making this a unique quality in the context of the other summer movies this year.
