Wondering what to watch once the summer is over? Here’s a quick summary of a few shows sure to be a refreshing change from last years season.

1. The Amazing Race – When season 13 premieres in September it will be the longest the show has been off the air since its start. With last year’s writer’s strike and odd episode timing, we are definitely due for some quality competition by this Emmy award winning show. This season contestants cover 5 continents and over 40,000 miles and it’s rumored that the finale was tapped in Portland, Oregon. Premiere is set for Sept. 28 on CBS.

2. 90210 – A former Beverly Hills High grad, who moved away after graduation, is brought back to his old stomping grounds due to an ailing parent. The show is said to be an updated version of the original 90’s series promising the same drama, but in a fresh way. The ensemble is updated as well with a more racially diverse cast, including the promise of members of the former cast to make guest appearances. Premiere is set for Sept. 2 on The CW.

3. Fringe – The newest series from “Lost’s” J.J. Abrams is said to be a spooky mix of “X-Files”, “Altered States” and “The Twilight Zone”. Incorporating the paranormal with an overall mythology story arc, Abrams said, “It’s definitely meant to scare the hell out of you, but it’s also meant to make you laugh… It pushes all the buttons of things we loved from our childhood.” I’m definitely intrigued… Premiere is set for Sept. 9 on Fox.
