Fall 2008 Trend Watch

Posted on 08 Sep 2008 at 1:33am

The runway has spoken! Designers have debuted their fall 2008 looks. Watch for these trends while shopping:

Belle Curves

The waist. Accent your waist with high pants, skirts, cinched belts and fitted jackets. Soft architecture creates a beautiful shape that can carve a womanly figure into anyone. It’s a stylish and eye catching silhouette. Balenciaga, Prada, YSL and Chanel all introduced the look.

Country Life

No city girls here. It’s all plaid, tweed, velvet and shearling with mismatched colors and geometric patterns. It’s stylish way to keep out the cold. Plaid is a timeless look, updated with watercolor washes. Plaid can be fun, funky and sexy.

Minimalist (less is more)

Prada, Narcisco Rodriguez and Calvin Klein have all jumped on the modest bandwagon. These pared down looks offer precise visions with simple, sophisticated looks. The stark, architectural tailoring is perfect for my favorite fall color: Black.

Superhero Worship

Fall power unite! Forces like Balenciaga, Rick Owens and Fendi use futuristic looks for fall. Any excuse to wear stylish, tall boots (that go all the way to the knee) and I’m there! Innovative dresses, caped jackets, tough leather all command confidence and demand heels (I always demand a good pair of heels).

More Bling For Beyonce

The singer/actress was seen wearing the breathtaking bling from hubby and fellow music artist Jay Z Friday night at New York’s Radio City Music Hall for the annual Fashion Rocks event.

This was the 27-year-old’s first time sporting the engagement ring since her nuptials in April.

The ring featuring an 18-carat flawless diamond set in platinum was designed by Lorraine Schwartz, who Entertainment Tonight reports has also made stunning creations for Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson.

The ring is valued at more than $5 million, said People magazine.
