On Sunday, a man ran onstage in the middle of an Oasis gig and blind-sided guitarist Noel Gallagher. The British musician was knocked forward into his stage monitors and suffered a broken rib and ligament damage. Despite the severity of the injuries, the band returned after a short break and finished their set. A video of the assault is available on YouTube.

The gig was taking place during the V Festival in Toronto. The attacker has been identified as 47-year old Daniel Sullivan, a Canadian. As a result of doctor’s recommendations, the band has postponed shows in London, Ontario and New York City.
The “Wonderwall” band has come up with an interesting stunt in lieu of their NYC show though: they will teach new Oasis songs to 30 street musicians, who will debut the songs in subway stations and on street corners throughout the city. Fans are encouraged to videotape the performances and post them on YouTube.
The breach of security and unprovoked attack was sickeningly reminiscent of the onstage murder of guitarist Dimebag Darrell in 2004.
