Simply known as “Mr. Blackwell,” the fashion critic died on Sunday, Oct 19, 2008 from an intestinal infection. What began as a humdrum rant in 1960, his noted annual Worst-Dressed List soon became a widely-anticipated annual media blitz.
Pulling no punches (none whatsoever!), Blackwell was never intimidated by the famous (Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Cher), the infamous (Madonna, Sharon Stone, Camilla Parker-Bowles) and all those in-between (Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan) to name just a few.
In the end it would seem that every one in Hollywood actually TRIED to make the list. How else could you explain some of the hideous styles that Hollywood’s (supposedly) elite strut on the red carpet? What follows are some of Blackwell’s scalding verbal reprimands.
