After far too many insinuations, endless tabloid fodder, and (lest we forget) the allegations of being the main cause of the Alex/Cynthia Rodriguez divorce (which most of us never saw coming…seriously), Madonna and her husband of eight years, Guy Ritchie, announced their imminent divorce.
Pardon the sarcasm, but are we really surprised? Let’s not kid ourselves. This couple had “divorce” stamped on that marriage certificate from the get-go.
Case in point: She’s Madonna. Don’t get me wrong, I actually admire Madonna’s accomplishments. She’s made a conglomerate out of what little she had to begin with. Today she’s a talented performer, a savvy businesswoman and (for better or worse) a household name.
But it takes a particular kind of man to feel secure with a woman who is so…well…renowned, especially one who is extremely sexual in nature and known for such sexuality. Throw in the fact that – until he married her – he was some guy who made a few decent flicks across a giant pond.
Even now, after all these years and his own accomplishments, Ritchie will be the answer to a bonus round as “Madonna’s second husband.” How sad. Then again, they say London is known for its 50/50 split in divorce proceedings – regardless of who the breadwinner might be. And that should make him okay with whatever they call him.
