Posted on 11 Aug 2009 at 8:17pm

Since the announcement of Paula Abdul’s departure, the Internet has been inundated with rumors of her ultimate return. But could the latest developments mean the solid end to her Idol run? According to sources, various female pop stars will fill the empty seat left by Adbul, who departed recently over salary negotiations.

Singers Katy Perry and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham have already signed agreements to judge some of the auditions, but live performances don’t air until January. So who knows – Abdul just might get that increased salary she’s looking for. After all, this is American Idol and if you’ve seen the show you know that anything is possible.

Adbul no longer an American Idol

Following weeks of anticipation it’s official: Paula Abdul will NOT be returning to American Idol. Abdul broke the news to her tweets on her Twitter. A judge on the popular singing contest since it began in 2002, supposedly her decision was made firm after negotiations over salary fell through.

Sources say Abdul wanted $20 million to return, while producers were willing to come up with just $10 million. In the meanwhile, host Ryan Seacrest signed a three-year contract worth $45 million, making him the highest paid host on reality TV. Poor, poor Paula. Guess $10 million just doesn’t go as far as it used to.
