The title explains itself…when summer arrives, there are two things key to me and they go hand in hand. Yep, it’s a clean bikini line and glowing smooth skin.  You need to always exfoliate before a wax, so here I go:

Exfoliate, exfoliate, and exfoliate!  This can be done many ways, some cheap, some expensive.  Let’s start with the cheap!

First off, find a good ole trustworthy body wash/cream exfoliate, sold at any supermarket or drugstore.  Price ranges from $5 to $20. I love  “Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash” by Caress. I get the burnt brown sugar and Karite butter one for $4.49 at CVS.

I also love how Dove’s “Gentle Exfoliating Nourishing Body Wash” with nutrium moisture that leaves my skin so silky smooth, only $10.94 at Walmart.

Going to a Korean bathhouse is a sure way to lose a few layers of dead skin. I go to “Olympic Spa” in east LA and for a mere $30.00, you get access to all the facilities — the hot baths, sauna, steam room, jade floor and even the oxygen stone room. But note that this is no frills… they call your name for exfoliation, lay you down on a bed with plastic next to four other naked ladies and scrub scrub scrub…but let me tell you, you leave there with baby soft skin!

There are Korean bathhouses in most cities so consult Google for the one nearest to you.  But if you want the frills, try a nice hotel spa.  They always have interesting scrubs with exotic names and great smelling rooms. If you’re going to the beach, the best exfoliate is by sitting in the sand right at the edge of the ocean water and massaging yourself with the sand grains — old school, but always a winner.

Yep… I am one of those people that have a waxer on call!  Her name is Kim and she works at “Wax” on Melrose in Los Angeles. She is my savior. She does the best Brazilian bikini wax ever! I recommend her to everyone I know. A great waxer needs to be friendly, thorough and confident.

Let’s be honest… you’re getting your hair ripped from your labia, so it’s never going to feel good — but Kim’s quick and efficient hand helps a lot. At “Wax” they have both cream and hard wax. Alright, I’m speaking too much in depth about a bikini wax and it may get a bit awkward, so I’ll leave it at that!

Moving on from bikini waxes, let it be known that Kim also does the best eyebrow shaping — she took my over-plucked thin eyebrows and turned them into full manageable ones. Brazilian waxes are $55 and brow shaping is $35.  Kim at Wax (323) 951-9616

  1. Great tips! I agree exfoliation is super important for the skin on your face as well as the skin on your body, to keep both super soft!

I don’t know what I would do without her, I used to go to anastasia for my brows, but they made them so straight I hated them, then i met kim and I will never ever ever use anyone else… trust me! :)
