Multi-karat bling, pre-nuptial agreements, and (staged) “elude the paparazzi” productions are just a few things we love about pop star weddings.

And though so many artists – Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and Fergie – enjoy continued success beyond the Little White Chapel, what about the ones whose lives become train wrecked after the “ I do?”  Makes you wonder into which category recently wed Carrie Underwood will fall.

Look at how  drastically Britney Spears’s life changed after marriage. The former Mousketeer first wooed the world with charm and innocence in 1999.

Then came something NO ONE predicted.

Two failed marriages and numerous media melees later, Britney’s stardust settled, and she has never fully recaptured her awesomeness of yesteryear.  And as for her 2007 comeback? Well, let’s just say that everyone deserves a 3rd chance.

Mr. “Love in the Club” himself even struggled to regain pop prominence after marrying his now ex-wife, Tameka Foster.

Usher’s “Confessions” sold 20 million copies internationally, but the follow up, “Here I Stand,” paled in comparison only selling 5 million. “Here I Stand” was released a few months after Usher and Tameka wed and was not nearly as successful.  Coincidence?  I think not. Usher’s now back with his post-break up “Raymond vs. Raymond”  and is re-establishing himself as a musical force with comeback hits like “OMG” and “Daddy’s Home.”

It’s inevitable. You marry your best friend (sometimes, turned worst enemy), and for better or worse – it has some effect on your work.  Shocking, I know, but this rule applies to pop stars, too.

Just as songs like “I’m Not in Checotah Anymore” and “Mama’s Song” tell the story of her newly found fame and then of her falling in love, I anticipate Carrie’s new life will influence her future hits.   Making it through one beautiful Underwood ballad without tearing up is already a task, and the experiences of married life will certainly enhance her outstanding lyrical eloquence.

Let’s bet that post wedding life for the country cutie mirrors the Celine and Rene fairytale and not the Whitney and Bobby catastrophe.  Carrie, after all, is more than just country; she’s that “All-American Girl” she sings about on her second multi-platinum album.  And with a powerful voice and down-to-earth demeanor, hopefully, this major milestone will only complement Carrie Underwood’s already huge success.
