Hi Lovelies! It’s time to lighten up!

It’s the end of Summer, and we should all at least LOOK like we’ve spent it hanging at the beach! Highlights give an instant pick-me-up to dull or faded hair color, and give you that “I spent my Summer in St. Tropez” look!

The good news is, you don’t have to spend hours in a salon for expensive highlights anymore! At-home highlighting kits are all the rage, and actually quick and easy to use!

Gone are the days of orange, over-processed, or damaged highlights from a box. Today’s highlighting kits have the formula just right!

My favorite brand for at-home highlighting is Loreal. They have highlight shades for everyone and a good selection of application techniques. You can choose to go with chunky highlights, a few strategically placed strands, or all-over for a much lighter effect.

Afraid you’ll mess it up? Don’t worry, Loreal kits come with different highlighting tools so you can choose which is easiest for you and the type of highlights you want…it’s practically fool-proof!

Here are your application options:

CAP IT: If you are obsessed with precision or are highlighting your hair yourself for the first time, this is the technique for you! You place a plastic cap (provided) over your head that has tiny holes that can be punched out. You can select which holes to pull through or use them all. Just grab small pieces of hair with the tool provided and pull through the cap. Once you’ve selected all the pieces, you just paint the top of the cap with the all the hair to be highlighted! It’s that easy! The rest of the hair will be protected under the cap so that you only highlight the pieces you want, with no mess or mistakes! You can’t go wrong!

PAINT ON: To achieve different sizes of highlights or to just grab a few select areas to lighten, use the “paint on” technique. With this technique, you simply take any pieces you want highlighted and paint on the mixture. – no foils needed! Cool! Loreal’s kits come with either brushes, wands or their new “Innovative Control-touch Fingertip.” The fingertip is a great idea  – you just place it over your finger, dip in the mixture and apply to the strands you like. However, it was too big for me and kept slipping off during application…so I switched to the brush half-way through the process and it was much easier. (I have super tiny hands – I’m sure it fits most!)

Loreal Touch-On Highlights

Whichever application you choose, you’ll end up with sexy, beach babe highlights in just under 30 minutes! An instant pick-me-up! Perfect!

OK beach babes, run to your local drugstore and grab a box of your desired shade. Tomorrow will be a brighter day!

Peace, Love, and Sexiness
