EXCESS BAGGAGE the Go-To for Online Shopping

Posted on 01 Sep 2010 at 10:54am

As I was indulging in my favorite thing to do – shopping…I found one of my favorite new online boutique’s, and let me tell you — it was love at first sight!

Stephanie Pratt, Kim Kardashian, Annalynne McCord and Eva Mendes are just a few of the devoted shoppers at EXCESS BAGGAGE.

With such a busy schedule and fast pace lifestyle, online shopping is the key to getting all of your clothing needs. Plus, I’m not a big department store shopper. I prefer boutiques and family-owned stores that carry unique designers that not everyone is wearing.

So just a few days ago, I decided to do a little online shopping and fell in love with this new site!  And let me tell you, after doing some serious damage I am going to have a lot of excess baggage, myself (I can’t decide what to wear first)!

Excess baggage carries some of the most fashion-forward clothing lines that not only celebrities are wearing, but everyone loves.

Check out some of the styles that have the celebs flocking to EXCESS BAGGAGE (psst. EXCESS BAGGAGE is having some great deals right now too!)

After practically salivating over every piece of clothing on the website, I thought that I better spread the word and let all of our readers know about this amazing fashion portal.

Just go shopexcessbaggage.com and I promise you will fall in love with all the labels they have to offer.

And be sure to check back weekly to positivelycelebrity.com where I’ll be highlighting the cute new arrivals at EXCESS BAGGAGE.

And the Award Goes to…Emmy’s Beauty Winners!

Posted on 01 Sep 2010 at 10:26am

The stars were shining bright at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday in Los Angeles. The looks on the red carpet were an eclectic mix that varied from glamorous up-dos to loose waves, and bold lips to neutral lips, but the overall trend was understated elegance. The hair and makeup, although glamorous looked surprisingly attainable – unlike in the past where the celebrities looked almost too perfect and polished.

These stars may not have all won the coveted Emmy, but they are definite winners in my book! Here are my top 5 fave beauties from the red carpet of the Emmy Awards AND quick tips on how you can get their look!

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne looks absolutely stunning! She brought the “va-va-voom”  with coral lips, accented brows, and amped up the volume with big, tousled hair – LOVE it!!

To get Kelly’s look: Wrap sections of hair around a 1″ curling iron barrel and let them fall loosely. Add volumizing spray and scrunch for extra oomph! I LOVE Kelly’s makeup! Cover blemishes with concealer, then lightly blend your favorite foundation. Dab lip stain in a coral shade to lips and cheeks, For these dramatic brows, use a brow powder to define and fill in sparse areas. Finish up the look with a touch of black liner and lots of mascara!

Claire Danes

Claire Danes – Perfection! I love Claire’s look. This was a perfect balance between polished and “au natural.” Her hair is absolutely perfect. It’s smooth and polished with a perfect curl at the ends, yet her makeup was probably the most natural of the night. I love how she mixed it up!

To get Claires look: Hair- Blow dry hair with a round brush for smooth strands, then curl from the bottom up with a large curling iron and spray curls for hold. Makeup – Cover any flaws with concealer and apply foundation evenly. Lightly dust a neutral shade of brown or tan shadow to lids and finish with a light sweep of mascara and clear lip gloss!

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian looked like a goddess with this beautiful up-do and dramatic eyes!

To get Kim’s look: First you need volume in your hair. Spray damp hair with volumizing spray then flip hair upside down and blow-dry while scrunching. Add hairspray while scrunching around the face for extra volume. Then, loosely pull hair back, twist and pin. For the face, even out skin tone with concealer and foundation. Next, lightly dust bronzer on cheeks, chin and forehead. Add light liner and lip gloss then finish this look by adding dramatic false eyelashes!

Lea Michele

Lea Michele looks super sexy with tousled hair and 60’s inspired eyes! YUM!

To get Lea’s look: Add shine serum to damp hair then blow-dry straight. Very loosely wrap strands around curling iron. Hold for only a few seconds for a really loose wave. Comb through with fingers to loosen more then finish with shine spray to give the hair a glow like Lea has. For makeup, try a very neutral rose tint for lips and cheeks. Amp up eyes with heavy liner on top and extend outward for a “straight cat-eye” and sex it up even more with false eyelashes or heavy mascara!

Keri Russell

Keri Russell looks adorable with a loose off-center bun accessorized with a flowery bow and pretty pink makeup!

To get Keri’s Look: Spritz damp hair with wave spray and scrunch while drying. Wave strands around the face by wrapping around a curling iron and shaking out to loosen up.  loosely pull hair back and to the side and twist into a bun. Pin to hold. Dust light pink blush onto apples of cheeks and pair with a pastel pink lipstick or gloss. Finish the look with brown eyeliner, pink shadow, and mascara.

Try out these award-worthy looks for yourself!

Positively Contagious: Bieber Fever

Posted on 01 Sep 2010 at 10:18am

Justin Bieber had already solidified himself as a multi-platinum selling, teen heart throb. Now that he has ignored doctor’s orders and has chosen to perform his Madison Square Garden show despite his recent sickness, he can change that “B” on his chest to an “S.”

Yep. According to Super Bieber, even when he’s feeling less than 100%, the show must go on. After hearing that Biebs was still bringing it to the Garden, East Coast tweens, teens, and parents breathed a collective sigh of relief.  And after months of making concerted efforts to resist succumbing to the Bieber phenomenon, I took the plunge and added a couple of his songs his entire album to my playlist.

Don’t judge me.

Perhaps my nostalgia of 80’s and 90’s pop princes is to blame for my reluctance to welcome little Justin into my iPod. I mean, really. Who would have ever thought anyone could hold a candle to the teeny-bopper, feel good sounds of groups like New Edition?  It just didn’t get any better than “Candy Girl” and “Count Me Out.”

Or what about when Mr. Raymond ushered himself into our lives, becoming a pop and R&B mainstay with hits like “Can You Get Wit It” and “Think of You”

Okay, so maybe I occasionally break out my acid washed jeans, Hypercolor t-shirt, and dance around to NKOTB’s “Step By Step,” but I have learned to appreciate Justin Bieber — the 2010 version of the guys I crushed on way back when.

I’ll be honest, the incessant radio play of Bieber’s international chart topper “Baby” became annoying, but then I became smitten by songs like “U Smile” and “That Should Be Me” from his My World 2.0.

One of my faves is “First Dance” from Justin Bieber’s first edition of My World. This tune captures the magical essence of your first kiddie prom without, according to the sly little hipster, teachers or chaperones around. The adult in me shutters at the thought of today’s school dances sans chaperones, but the kid in me loves every single word of this way-too-cute track.  Listening to “First Dance” will remind you of your parents asking if you had fun at the dance, you shrugging it off saying, “it was okay,” then divulging details to your diary of having butterflies when your crush chose you from the bleachers.

I may be a little late and a bit lame, but I am finally embracing, and openly admitting, that at 2? years of age, I am kind of becoming a Justin Bieber fan. With those to-die-for tresses, charisma, and pubescent voice, who can resist?

I’m sure Justin Bieber “rocked it out” at his Madison Square Garden concert as promised despite feeling under the weather.  And though I don’t yet have a full blown case of Bieber Fever, I do feel my temperature rising just a tiny bit.

Editor-In-Chief’s note:  I seem to have a mild case of Bieber Fever myself – and I’m not embarrassed to sat that even at my age, it’s hard to resist this cutie.  After listening to his album, now I see why teenage girls all over the country are screaming.  So if you haven’t downloaded any (or all) of his catchy sweet tunes, download below.  And be sure to check out more of the latest music news from uber-talented music editor Erica Renee Davis, right here at Positively Celebrity!

Brent Roske Plays Grammy Museum October 8

Posted on 01 Sep 2010 at 10:04am

Emmy nominated director Brent Roske has been hitting the clubs in Los Angeles lately but not with a camera, but a guitar. His debut album ‘Live at the Viper Room’ is a best seller on Amazon.com, appeared in Rolling Stone this month and has been getting raves: “Roske paints a picture with every song…”says TRAFFIK.com.

He recently played the House of Blues and the Viper Room again (seen after the show in photo below with Jordan Belphi who plays ’Adam Davies’ on HBO’s ‘Entourage’).

Other celebs were in attendance as well, including ’Borat’ star Ken Davitian who acted in a short film that Roske directed along with John Lovitz. DAVITIAN: “Brent played one song about his family that was really beautiful – I told him he should make sure his parents hear that one.”

Roske will be performing a special concert at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, October 8 at 8pm accompanied by cello, violin, flute and his favorite guitar. “The Grammy museum is a great space and it will be a fun show to do. The album and video are up for Grammys this year so it’s exciting to be a part of that whole scene” said Roske.

And Hollywood seems to love his music – check out his music video featuring Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss and Josh Lebar (also from ‘Entourage’)

For more on the man and his music check out Roske’s Facebook.

In ‘Live at the Viper Room’, Brent Roske is positively phenemonal. If you haven’t checked out this album yet, you need to!  Purchase his hot-selling debut album at Amazon below!
