Positively Contagious: Bieber Fever2 Comments

Justin Bieber had already solidified himself as a multi-platinum selling, teen heart throb. Now that he has ignored doctor’s orders and has chosen to perform his Madison Square Garden show despite his recent sickness, he can change that “B” on his chest to an “S.”

Yep. According to Super Bieber, even when he’s feeling less than 100%, the show must go on. After hearing that Biebs was still bringing it to the Garden, East Coast tweens, teens, and parents breathed a collective sigh of relief.  And after months of making concerted efforts to resist succumbing to the Bieber phenomenon, I took the plunge and added a couple of his songs his entire album to my playlist.

Don’t judge me.

Perhaps my nostalgia of 80’s and 90’s pop princes is to blame for my reluctance to welcome little Justin into my iPod. I mean, really. Who would have ever thought anyone could hold a candle to the teeny-bopper, feel good sounds of groups like New Edition?  It just didn’t get any better than “Candy Girl” and “Count Me Out.”

Or what about when Mr. Raymond ushered himself into our lives, becoming a pop and R&B mainstay with hits like “Can You Get Wit It” and “Think of You”

Okay, so maybe I occasionally break out my acid washed jeans, Hypercolor t-shirt, and dance around to NKOTB’s “Step By Step,” but I have learned to appreciate Justin Bieber — the 2010 version of the guys I crushed on way back when.

I’ll be honest, the incessant radio play of Bieber’s international chart topper “Baby” became annoying, but then I became smitten by songs like “U Smile” and “That Should Be Me” from his My World 2.0.

One of my faves is “First Dance” from Justin Bieber’s first edition of My World. This tune captures the magical essence of your first kiddie prom without, according to the sly little hipster, teachers or chaperones around. The adult in me shutters at the thought of today’s school dances sans chaperones, but the kid in me loves every single word of this way-too-cute track.  Listening to “First Dance” will remind you of your parents asking if you had fun at the dance, you shrugging it off saying, “it was okay,” then divulging details to your diary of having butterflies when your crush chose you from the bleachers.

I may be a little late and a bit lame, but I am finally embracing, and openly admitting, that at 2? years of age, I am kind of becoming a Justin Bieber fan. With those to-die-for tresses, charisma, and pubescent voice, who can resist?

I’m sure Justin Bieber “rocked it out” at his Madison Square Garden concert as promised despite feeling under the weather.  And though I don’t yet have a full blown case of Bieber Fever, I do feel my temperature rising just a tiny bit.

Editor-In-Chief’s note:  I seem to have a mild case of Bieber Fever myself – and I’m not embarrassed to sat that even at my age, it’s hard to resist this cutie.  After listening to his album, now I see why teenage girls all over the country are screaming.  So if you haven’t downloaded any (or all) of his catchy sweet tunes, download below.  And be sure to check out more of the latest music news from uber-talented music editor Erica Renee Davis, right here at Positively Celebrity!
