I’ve been in a lovely steady relationship for 7 months, so of course it’s only natural that my make-up scenarios have changed. I don’t wear make-up on a normal day…if anything, I wake up and simply moisturize with my Avene Trixera ($29 at http://www.dermstore.com)
then spray some Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist all over my face and body (Purchase it here for $21)
Add a coat of Vaseline to my lips and eyebrows, and finish with a coat of clear mascara…and voila! I’m ready to go.
And just so you know…I’m not joking about how much I rave about these products. All of them (except the mascara) have appeared in one of my recent Positively Celebrity blogs.
But when we go out to a nice dinner or out to dance like no one’s watching at a hot new club, like the most of us…I prefer to put on a few more layers (of make-up, anyway 
)
This is where things get tricky. My boyfriend and I are not overly PDA, but we do steal kisses here and there. Leaving a gunky layer of lip gloss on his lips is NOT going to fly. That’s when I discovered Stila’s lip stain. This stuff is amazing!
It’s actually a lip and cheek stain, but I tried it on my cheeks and frankly, I thought I looked like a clown…but it does work wonders on your lips. Put on a nice layer, let it dry, then do a few tests. I got tissue and kissed it — no mark! I pressed my lips against my pillow — no mark! It’s literally fool-proof, so you know what that means between you and your man.
If you add layer of Vaseline to keep it shiny and hydrated, that works too. When my handsome beau came to pick me up, I gave it the ultimate test…I smacked a big one on him. As I expected, he instantly went to look in the mirror saying “Babe, I’m going to have red!” and just then…he sees there’s absolutely no color on him. Of course…because I am the boyfriend-proof make-up master!

Another make-up give away with a boyfriend is when you wake up and half your face is on the sheets! Not a good look at all…for your face or your sheets.
I recommend wearing a very light foundation like Smashbox’s Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer, which is oil free and has SPF 15 ($30 www.smashbox.com).
I love how it gets the job done, but doesn’t cover my freckles. After I apply my make-up, I always seal it with my Lavender Hydrating Mist (OK, you guessed it…and yes I am obsessed!) That usually makes it smudge-proof and smelling so beautiful too.
When I wake up after a night of forgetting to take off my make-up, (which happens very often) I don’t need to worry about an Emily shaped face on my boyfriends high-thread-count sheets.
