Hi lovelies!

So, the weather is cooling down and that tan you worked so hard for all summer is fading. Just because winter is coming does not mean we need to be pale as ghosts! Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get a “straight-from-the-beach-but-safe-for-your-skin” glow – without tanning!

The self tanners out there now are AMAZING!! It used to be that self tanners turned you orange and created nasty streaks all over your body but NOT ANYMORE! The 2010 tanners are ridiculously natural looking – AND the best part is… you can find great ones at your local drug store! Oh yeah!!

The more expensive department store brands have always been slightly ahead of the pack, but now the drug store brands have really taken off – and as of today they’re winning in my book!

So, let’s get to it!!

Know before you glow:

Before applying self tanners, make sure to completely exfoliate to remove any dead skin and prevent those pesky streaks!

Don’t forget, we want a natural glow! I said NATURAL ladies!! That means pick a color close to your skin tone. If you’re pale, please don’t grab the “deep tan” color. That “fake bake” look is sooo early 2000s!! The goal is to look like you’ve been vacationing in St. Tropez, not like you’ve spent hours in a tanning bed. Eeew!

There are a few different ways to get your faux glow. Check them out:

1. GRADUAL TANNERS!

If you’re not in a hurry to get tan or just want a slight glow, go pick up a “gradual tan” lotion. These are just like regular lotions but create a subtle tan with continued use!

Jergens makes a great one called “Natural Glow.” This says it creates a tan within a week, but I actually found myself with quite a bit of color after just one use! It’s great all year long and definitely the most natural look out of all the self-tanners since it is gradual! They even make one with firming action. Woo hoo!!

2. NEED A TAN NOW?

I’m just DYING over the latest crop of “airbrush” self tanners!!

No more streaky application. Most of today’s brands offer this really easy “airbrush” type spray nozzle! You don’t even need help from a friend. These newly designed cans spray from every angle. I have to say it’s pretty cool. Just spray them on in the shower after you’ve exfoliated and dried off.

My #1 pick for “airbrush” self tanners is….

Loreal’s Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Mist! It creates a tan in under an hour. An hour!!! Super great! You can dress within a couple minutes. This is my fave as of right now mostly because of this fast drying time and of course because you don’t have to wait four hours to see a difference!

Coming in a close second is Neutrogena’s “Micro Mist.” It goes on so lightly you’ll barely know it’s spraying. But you do have to wait up to four hours to see your new color (If it weren’t for the wait , I think this would’ve been my fave!).

3. HERE TODAY…GONE TOMORROW!

Loreal also makes a great INSTANT tan called Sublime Bronze One Day! It’s got major bronzing action with a touch of shimmer and the best part is it WASHES OFF!!! This is really great if you want a quick glow for going out! This is not a spray. You actually apply with your hands, but it’s tinted so you can see exactly where your tan is going. It’s pretty cool. I’ve used it several times when I had to go out and wanted to wear a miniskirt. (If your legs are tan it really helps to hide any dimples and makes them look slimmer! Yay!!)

Perfect! Now we all have a beautiful natural-looking tan!
