Positively Tried and Tested: TRX Training, Week 30 Comments

If you haven’t read my TRX blogs from week 1 and 2, where have you been!  Or perhaps you’re new to my blog, and therefore hello! Welcome and Enjoy.  To get caught up, you can read them here and here.

After week 2 of my training,  I definitely ached.  So I did my ritual of taking a lovely long bath with Epsom salts, along my new favorite bath salts by Anthology.  You can get them for $18.95, which is well worth it, at http://www.anthologyplace.com/

If you’re a regular to my blog, then yes you guessed it — the Lavender Sea Salt is my love because I am a LAVENDER addict!  If I ever have a baby girl, I will probably call her Lavender.  After a 30-minute soak, my muscles eased up a bit, but before bed I also did a great 5-minute stretch.

For my third week of TRX Training, I’m going to leave out the descriptions of each move, because they’ll become just way too complicated to write. But know that fortunately, they are not too complicated to do.  Actually, the more we add on, the more challenging it is…and the more I find it easier. Weird, huh!

What I can describe is how amazing TRX makes me feel. First of all, I love my trainer Alana.  I really look forward to my session, working out and getting to chat with her. This week I was so happy to see she is also a fan of Stella McCartney for Adidas. Stella’s range is so intricate , stylish and sexy.  Alana looked HOT and that’s important as a trainer because it proves TRX is working for her, so hopefully it can work for me (please?!?)

Well, I am pleased to say that after walking into week 3, it is definitely working for me. My arms look very toned and I feel stronger, my love handles are slimmed down and my side pockets (that’s what I call them anyway…you might call them saddle bags…whatever they are, I hate them!) were finally emptying.

All that being said, I walked in on a mission and to continue with TRX, the benefits are endless. Alana makes each week so different, but keeps the core stances the same. The best thing for me about TRX is that it’s like a hybrid workout. You get a great dose of cardio and a perfect blend of “weights”.

Obviously no weights are used, but the weight of using your own body is genius. I put my  adidas micoach on the “Free” setting which means it’s using my heart rate monitor and pace to calculate how many calories I burn.  My TRX training this week  burned 800 calories in one session!  I highly recommend getting this amazing little calorie-counting machine for $139 at http://www.shopadidas.com.

I leave my workout glowing…and usually starving. Although, if you’re like me…I’m always hungry because I love food — thinking about food all day and dreaming about food all night is pretty standard to my world, even without a workout.  But the more I work out, the more I can eat!  And the closer I get to getting that amazing Cameron Diaz body.

Alana has group classes that are limited to only nine students Monday and Friday at 12:30 pm at the Toluca Lake Tennis Club and Sports Center (323) 851-6000.  For the month of December, the club is offering a special where if you buy tenTRX group classes, you get five free. This offer is for both members and non-members.  For more info on Alana and TRX, please visit http://www.sublimefitnessandbodywork.com/, and of course if you don’t live in the Los Angeles area, google TRX Training to find an awesome trainer near you.
