If you’ve conquered the Jersey Shore, (twice!), and mastered Miami, where’s a guidette go when she’s Snookin’ for love? How about where it all started…Italy!
MTV announced in a statement on Tuesday that the cast will head to their cultural country of origin in the spring and episodes will air later this year. Something to look forward to? A group dinner with Vinny’s family still living in the old country! But while the gang has certainly developed a language of their own (GTL, grenade, DTF, MVP, the list goes on), they don’t speak fluent Italian! Why would MTV send them to a foreign country? Executive Vice President of Programming for MTV, Chris Linn, said this:
While the stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience, it’s really the constantly evolving dynamic among the cast that keeps them coming back each season, and Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us…The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can’t wait to see what erupts as a result.
Well there you have it, the formula for success! In no particular order, here is a list of things I personally can’t wait to see:
- Snooki on the prowl for Italian young men (what does ‘gorilla juice-head’ translate to in Italian?)
- Two words: language barrier!
- Snooki and JWoww trying to use their hair dryers and hair straighteners in European sockets
- Situation trying to use his tired old moves on a hot-blooded Italian woman
- The inevitable trip to an Italian beach and the cast’s reaction to European swimwear
- The heart-warming realization that the gang really does have a great connection to their homeland, (and then ultimately can’t wait to jet back to Jersey!)
No official word on what current cast members will make the trip. In question are newbie Deanna and veteran Sammi, who appears to leave the shore on this week’s episode previews.
