Positively AWESOME Coachella 2011 Lineup!1 Comment

Already, they are anticipating this year’s Coachella festival to be the greatest ever.

And they’re right.

The Chemical Brothers. Cee Lo.

Arcade Fire. Ratatat.

Erykah Badu. And yes…music’s most celebrated villain, Kanye West.

And that, music lovers, is just the tip of the music-filled-weekend-in-the-sweltering-desert iceberg. More than 100 must-see acts will be flocking to Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California from April 15 – 17, playing your favorite alternative, indie, and hip hop tunes on multiple stages around the clock.

I am as excited about the Coachella lineup as I am when I get carded to buy wine.

And if the music gods will be kind enough to secure my spot among the projected tens of thousands of concert goers (including a VIP pass, gas, food, and lodging), below is a brief look at who I can’t wait to see!

From virtual anonymity to performing at one the largest music festivals in the world – Mr. Black and Yellow, better known as Wiz Khalifa – will be a hip hop highlight at Coachella.

It has been way too long since The Strokes released an album, but it is rumored that the rockers will be releasing a fourth album called Angles in March. This means that they’ll have tons of new music to debut when they’re performing at Coachella in April! Perfect!

Speaking of being gone way too long…it’s Ms. Lauryn Hill who puts the “H” in hiatus. She has made news for having on-going tensions between former Fugee band mates, and there’s the occasional blurb regarding her sporadic live performances. Other than that, there hasn’t been much pertinence coming out of the Lauryn Hill camp. Maybe Coachella will be step one in helping Lauryn recapture her Miseducation essence.

Three words: Kings of Leon. They can do no wrong in my book. Most of the general population feels similarly. It’s imperative that I am no more than an arm’s length away when they’re performing older tunes like, “Sex on Fire,” and newer ones like, “Pyro.”

I say we petition to have The Black Keys have their own stage at Coachella on which only they are allowed to perform and on which they must perform continuously for the duration of the festival. What a genius plan.

Passes went on sale Friday, January 21! Visit www.coachella.com for the complete lineup and for detailed info! And be sure to check back often for more of the latest music news from Erica Renee Davis right here on Positively Celebrity!
