For those of you that read my blogs, you know that not only am I a Lavendar addict, but I also love getting unique things done to my hands and feet.
Right before going home for Christmas I contacted Naja my nail stylist to see if I could once again get something different done on my toesies. Now the thing is, it’s freezing in London so it’s not like my toes will be out for all to see, BUT I do have a message to bring to the UK — and the message is that “I’m a cool trendsetter and look what goodies I have for you girls!!”
Naja asked me if I loved my Shellac gel nails that I got a few months ago, and of course my answer was yes, I love them. So then she tells me that OPI (my favorite nail care brand ever) also has a hybrid nail varnish and gel out called OPI Axxium. Sign me up! Naja mentioned that she has all the Burlesque glitter colors and that she would blend me something special, so I booked the next available appointment.
When I arrived at her salon, I got to sit in an amazing massage chair with a glass of sangria. Feeling so relaxed and excited at what was to come, Naja arrived with the color options and her mixing kit. After much ooh-ing and ahhh-ing, we decided to go for a purple, green, pink and gold number.
The process is the same as when I got Shellac. (If you didn’t get to read it, then click here!) The only difference is that this process is glittery so we needed about five layers to make it flawlessly glittertastic. You would think that means more drying time, though right!? Wrong! Each layer would dry under the UV light while the other hand was getting done but that’s it. Once all the layers were done, then they were dry and ready!
I couldn’t believe that I could put on my socks and shoes right away. I even brought my hard toed boots just because when I do things like this, it really is to test the product. I got home , took my boots off and started to peel my socks off thinking I would have those annoying sock marks on my big toes…but was pleasantly pleased to see my toes were PERFECT!
Now you may be wondering why I am writing this blog in February when I got it done before the Christmas holidays? Well, I still have it on! Yep, I have had it on for over a month-and-a-half and it still looks great. Ok, granted my nails have grown and you can see it’s dated but the actual glitter and strength is still intact. It also looks like I was going for a half moon look on purpose – when it fades away it does so perfectly. The one thing I have make sure to do is keep the bottom bit clean and cuticle free so it still looks brand new.
I definitely recommend OPI gel, and I will definitely be doing it again and again — especially during the warmer months when you can have your toes out everyday. I can’t wait to try out all the other colors! Think about it, if I can keep them for a month at a time, then I only have to get my feet done 12 times a year!
