One of the gifts of having worked as a personal trainer for over 10 years is that I’ve had the opportunity and honor to help many different people. As a result, I put together programs for a large variety of personalities and body types. Exercise is good for absolutely everyone, however, it is most effective when you can find a routine that really resonates with your unique body type.

When I’m training myself, or a client, I take several things into consideration. For my clients, their goals, body type and personality will ultimately determine what exercises and routines are most effective and efficient for them.

Let’s take a look at what some of the hottest celebs are doing to keep themselves fit:

Cameron Diaz

Jessica Biel

Cameron Diaz is someone who radiates beauty from the inside out and one of my personal favorite celebrity bodies. This is a woman that keeps herself fit all year round by keeping her routine spicy. She surfs and plays golf, which attributes to her rock’n arms and abs, and she also hits the gym for 30-minute-long cardio sessions and pilates.

Jessica Biel is another celebrity body that screams “I Workout,” and she is most famous for her amazing backside! Jessica works out intensely and combines track sprints and band workouts. One move she does that I personally use and love is putting a resistance band around her ankles and then doing lateral squats. This really helps lift, tighten, and tone the backside and creates a more rounded shape.

Reese Witherspoon Scarlett Johansson

Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson are both known for their very sexy, feminine curves. Reese finds solace in outside workouts and enjoys long runs or hiking with a buddy. She also makes her hikes more challenging by hiking up backwards to really tone her legs and calves, while carrying 5lb dumbbells that she uses for strength training exercises. She likes to add in squats and bicep curls in between hiking intervals.

Scarlett does a very different type of workout than Reese, and has found that circuit training is what is most effective for her body type. She does 45 minutes 3 times a weeks of workouts that consist of push-ups, squats, chin-ups, and lunges. She does these exercise right after the other, with no rest in between, so she combines her cardio and strength training all in one. This is a starlet that likes to get in and get out of the gym, accomplishing as much as possible while she’s there.

Whether you’re tall and thin, short and curvy, or somewhere in between, it is important to find a workout routine that works for you. I suggest trying different things until you find a combination that feels good. Start with an outside hike or run. Then try a circuit training class or work with a trainer once or twice a week to see how you enjoy weights and resistance training. What is ultimately most important is that you are consistent with whatever workouts you like to do. Getting fit and staying healthy is a lifestyle, so find exercises and routines that are effective, efficient for your schedule and goals, and that match your personality!
