Music that inspires. “Sign of the Times” music. Fall in love music.

The amazing thing about music is that, no matter what’s going on in life, there’s always a song or lyric that expresses exactly how you feel. So, my Music loving peeps…it’s another edition of Music to Match Your Mood.

Mood: Hopeful  Reason: The united front to help Japan!

Japan’s suffering has touched the heart of the world.  In the wake of a massive earthquake and the subsequent tsunami, the outpouring of donations and fundraising efforts proves that humanity still exists.

The musicians who came together for 1986’s “We Are the World” created a song that is as relevant in 2011.  Songs like this remind me that “no man is an island” and that it takes international love and support to overcome disaster.

Mood: Love and LOVED Reason: Because anytime is a good time for love

I’ve been in an extra gushy, lovey-dovey mood lately! Let’s blame that on the changing of the seasons or on the fact that my spring and summer calendars are booked with weddings to attend. At any rate, the symphony I hear when I’m on Cloud 9 of Love is…well, it’s not really a symphony. It’s Lloyd’s cute new single, “Cupid.”

Mood: Irritated Reason: Gloomy weather :-(

I can’t stand the rain!!! No, really, I can’t. And there has been a lot of rain here in LA lately and across the nation. I know you’re probably saying, “Rain makes you appreciate the sun.”  Interestingly enough, I’m one of those people who doesn’t need rain to know I LOVE the sun. The rain – it messes up your hair, your outfits, and your beach plans that you didn’t even know you had. I’m going to be “supa dupa fly” and keep dry indoors.

Mood: Disheartened Reason: Political unrest throughout the world

We love U2 because they are awesome rockers who actually care about the welfare of the world. Since forever, the band members have vocalized anti-war sentiments through music.  ”Sunday Bloody Sunday” is one of those anti-war hits, and it asks, ”How long must we sing this song?” With continued unrest in the Middle East and the latest uprisings in Libya, we should all ask ourselves this question.

Mood: Fiesty Reason: Painting the town red HOT PINK

Nothing sparks my party mood like Dev’s “Bass Down Low.”  I, too, like my beats fast and my bass down low. Great minds think alike.

Mood: Antsy Reason: So much to do, so little time to do it when Facebook and Twitter beckon

Procrastination … just what the doctor ordered when I’m feeling overwhelmed! When I tire of Facebooking, I can always count on music videos to stand between me and my to-do list. And Young the Giant’s video for “My Body” and procrastination are co-conspirators.

I’m fascinated with how the guy is chasing his doppelganger through the city and with Sameer Gadhia’s perfect teeth and with the “We Buy Gold” shirt a pedestrian is wearing in the background.  Then I have to watch it again because I think I see someone I recognize, and then when the doppelganger escapes into the painting at the end, I have an “A-ha!” moment, so I have to start all over because now I think I get it. To-do list? What to-do list?

What music best describes your mood today?
