“Well its been a good yr too bad its over, time for summer and starting fresh,” Chord Overstreet tweeted on Friday, July 1. Uh oh.

Shortly before the long holiday weekend, news was breaking via the web about the demise of Sam from “Glee”; Chord Overstreet was not promoted to a series regular like fellow castmates Harry Shum Jr. and Darren Criss.

My favorite luscious-lipped cutie got passed over for Darren Criss? I was loving the Sam/Mercedes dating cliff hanger from just a few months ago, and now creator Ryan Murphy pulls out the rug from under me! But I wasn’t the only one upset by the news; Chord’s fans took to a multimedia stance against the unwelcome news. According to EW, his cover of “Billionaire” on iTunes shot to the top ten, and even a petition made rounds over the weekend.

But if you believe the Glee-ful news over at TVLine, we all just need to “simmer down.” Just because Chord didn’t get the title of “series regular,” doesn’t mean he’s out. He will continue to be billed as a recurring character, as long as he shows up for next season when it begins filming on August 10. Apparently, he just has to wait his turn to be bumped up to a regular, like Harry Shum Jr., who waited two years. Please come back Chord!

So what do you think of the decision not to promote Chord Overstreet to series regular? Do you think he will come back to the show after his cryptic tweet? Leave us a comment below!
