Hello my lovely beauty junkies! Emily Rose here, ready to get you and your skin prepped for Summer. I don’t know what the weather has been like in the rest of the world, but it’s been really strange here in L.A. It truly is “June Gloom” mania.
On most mornings and nights, I find that I have to wear a jacket of some sort because the temps have fluctuated so much throughout the day. Last week it finally changed, so out came my summer wardrobe. But to my horror, I discovered I had a nasty breakout on my chest! Not cool for showing off my cute American Apparel low-cut tank tops.
I’ve gotten pimples on my neck…and of course on my face, but never on my chest. So understandably, I was shocked when I discovered those eight big red mountainous pimples. Why didn’t I ever notice they were there? Was it heat rash? Or was it because of the fact that I only use face wash on my face and neck, but not on my chest?
Whatever the cause, I needed to fix it asap. If you’re familiar with my previous blogs, then you know I have “Beauty Call LA” on call as my facial specialist. In the past, facial expert Heather Funk has used stem cells to give me a renewed glow — and even managed to save my face from a major sun care mishap.

Fortunately, Heather was able to squeeze me in the next day (pun intended). As always, she worked her magic! First she cleaned the area, then applied a mask and did the extractions. I highly advise you see her, but if you want to save money, then these steps will help you at home too. She finished my treatment by rubbing one of her special potions on my chest, then covered it with gauze to protect it from dirt and other elements. She advised me not to wash it off for as long as I could…so that meant going to the Bruno Mars concert on a warm night — with a turtleneck dress on. Anything to get rid of those pimples!
If you’re not L.A. based, here are some things to think about to make sure your chest is acne-free. As women, we tend to spray perfume on our chest, but the chemicals paired with intense heat can actually cause skin flare-ups. So go back to the old school days and spray your perfume on your wrists, or lightly dab it behind your ears. You’ll still smell just as good!

Another great skin tip is to make sure your chest gets the same care as your face. That means washing it in the shower with a good anti-bacterial, hypo-allergenic body wash. I recommend “Dial Basics Bar Soap”. It works wonders and is so cheap — you can even find it at the 99 Cents Store!

I’ve said this in the past and I’ll say it again, but baby wipes are incredible to keep your skin clean! With the amount of pollution in the air combined with the Summer heat, dirt sinks into your skin after you sweat. Having baby wipes handy for a wipe here and there is very convenient to keep clean and feel fresh.
If pimples on your chest is more of a recurring problem (and not just a heat and dirt issue), I highly recommend these AMAZING all-natural cleansing pads by MediClear. They’re ribbed like a brillo pad so they exfoliate as well as cleanse. I exfoliate daily and have noticed a remarkable difference after using this product. The best part? MediClear products have 100% all-natural ingredients that are free of harsh, drying chemicals.

For my final tip, if you ever get one of those horrible big whiteheads and are tempted to give it a squeeze, Sephora has complexion extractors with a lance that you can buy — they’re just like the professionals use! It’s really the only way to get the bacteria out of a pimple properly, as long as it’s ready to burst.

You never want to squeeze a pimple with your fingers because dirt from your fingers get under the skin, thus causing bacteria to push beneath the skin even further. Plus, you’ll even risk permanently scarring your face if you squeeze too hard! Professional-grade lances will help you get rid of your pimples without the nasty side effects.
