Beautiful. Talented. Hard-working. Versatile. Determined. Those are just a few adjectives that come to mind when thinking about Israeli stage, television/film actress and playwrite Meital Dohan.

She’s mesmorized America as sexy scholar “Yael Hoffman” in the Showtime hit series, Weeds. You’ve seen her as “Aurora” in the Sony Pictures comedic web series Woke Up Dead co-starring Jon Heder and Wayne Knight. Her recent film, Monogamy, (co-starring Chris Messina and Rashinda Jones) is also enjoying rave reviews.

On stage, Meital recently co-starred with John Ventimiglia of The Sopranos in the Off Broadway and LA hit production of Anthony Nelson’s play Stitching.

With such impressive accolades, there’s clearly no stopping Dohan.  But now the versatile talent can add musician to her list, recently releasing her debut single “Yummy Boyz” off her upcoming debut album “I’m in Hate with Love”. At first look, it’s positively yummy! That’s why Positively Celebrity was so excited to get the scoop from Dohan herself on what’s happening in her music, career and life.

Q:  Congrats on the new single! How would you describe your sound as an artist?

A:  My album has a range from dance tracks to lounge music. I wanted to create something that people can dance to, laugh to, fight to and then make up with some make-up sex. I also want people to be depressed when they listen to it and I want people to be happy when they listen to it. I want people to connect to it and feel empowered.

Q:  You are so incredibly multi-faceted in your career — from film to television, to music and theatre. What do you like performing the best and why?
A:  I’ve always been a performer so I think I can tap into different parents of that performance energy and it can manifest itself in so many ways. Sometimes I want to do a film and I’ll invest myself completely in that experience. I think it’s really just about having total focus on whatever you’re doing at any given minutes so you can give it your all.

Q:  What are you most proud of in your career thus far?
A:  Monogamy, Weeds, Giraffes and God’s Sandbox which I had the pleasure to receive an Israeli Oscar nomination for.

Q: What was the recording process like for your new single?
A:  It was a very organic process. I was lucky to have caught the attention of producer Che Pope who has worked with Lauryn Hill, Eminem and Dr. Dre.
We collaborated on my album and it was really synergistic and great working together.

Q: Tell us about your new video for the single! What was your favorite part of the shoot and why?
A:  Shooting the Yummy Boyz vid was a yummy experience from start to end. Everyone I worked with from Obama to Osama Bin Laden, were really wonderful people. I think the fun we had making this video is what made it go viral so quickly. We were having fun making it, which made it even more fun to watch. I believe in that kind of thing.

Q:  Where do you see yourself in five years?
A:  Maybe on a vacation in St. Bart. I love working so hard and doing so much, but maybe in five years I can catch my breath on the beach for a while.
I don’t know where I’ll be in five years but I think the mystery of where things can go is part of the enjoyment of the ride.

Q:  What advice would you give for someone aspiring to be in the entertainment industry?
A:  I’d tell them to buckle up and put their helmet on. You have to really want it, and be well equipped with the right gear.

Q:  Do you have any mentors in the industry? Why do you they inspire you?
A:  I have to say that I met a few inspiring people in my career in America. Among them, Ben Barenholtz who produced the Cohen Brother’s first feature films and distributed David Lynch’s first film. He also produced Requiem For A Dream. Ben is the perfect example for how people should still behave in this industry, to follow their gut instincts and artistic integrity rather than be caught up with what is hot right now.

Q:  Tell us about your upcoming projects!
A:  I’ll be coming out with my next music single soon, so stay tuned!
