Katy Perry and Russell Brand are headed for Splitsville. On December 30th, Russell Brand filed for divorce in a Los Angeles Superior court, citing irreconcilable differences.

The 36-year-old comedian confirmed the split in a statement to the Associated Press. “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
The couple tied the knot in October 2010 at a resort in India, after meeting at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Over the past few weeks, rumors had spread that there was trouble in paradise, although both parties continuously denied it. TMZ had reported that the couple spent Christmas apart, and that neither of them had been wearing their wedding rings.
Just weeks ago, Katy was featured as one of Barbara Walter’s “Most Fascinating People of 2011”. When asked if she had a “happy marriage” with Russell, the pop singer responded, “It’s lovely so far.”

E! has obtained legal documents indicating that there was no prenup between the couple. According to California law, if there is no prenup, the couple must split their earnings 50/50, which means Russell could be entitled to half of Katy’s reported multi-millions!
So sad to see another Hollywood couple bite the dust. I was rooting for you guys! Best of luck Katy and Russell!
