Like many celebrities, I do not like to miss a “sunglass wearing opportunity”. The right shades can give you all the coverage and style boost you need! I have spied some of my favorite style champions wearing Illesteva and am determined to get myself a pair. These coveted sunnies have been spotted on A-listers all over the world.
From hot city chicks… Whitney Port papped outside E&O restaurant in London:
…and the ever-stylish Kate Bosworth wearing the Leonard 2 in LA:
To festival babes Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella:
and Alexa Chung at Glastonbury this year:
These glasses are designed in NY and handmade in Italy, which explains why many celebrities are choosing to collect them!
Kirsten Dunst appeared in the Band of Outsiders SS 11 Look Book wearing Illesteva Frieda in cream, and stays loyal to the brand in her Illesteva Lili in Black when she is out and about:
New Yorker JUS-SKE agreed with German Daniel Silberman that there was something missing in the eyewear market and thus started Illesteva in 2009. The duo push normal boundaries of design by exploring fresh shapes and materials like acetate, bamboo, wood, titanium and natural buffalo horn, with each new frame design.
Drawing from their downtown lives, as well as their backgrounds in design, music, fashion, and photography, Silberman and Ske have created a brand of classic timeless pieces, meant to last a lifetime.
These handmade sunglasses are so hot right now that for Beyonce, one pair simply won’t do! The International superstar has a different color of her favorite Leonard style for each country she visits! In France she chose the Leonard 3 in Matte Horn:
While preferring clear in the UK:
And Tan in New Zealand:
For the states, Beyonce chooses her Illesteva Snake Leonards in Beverly Hills and NYC:
I can barely take my eyes off the website http://www.illesteva.com/wp/ and will definitely be heading to one of the many Illesteva worldwide stockists including Barneys NY, Opening Ceremony NY and LA, Colette Paris, Lane Crawford Hong Kong, Browns London and Net-a-Porter to find the best ones for my face!

Selena and the Scene – When the Sun Goes Down
Selena Gomez is the best thing to happen to Disney since Mickey and Minnie went public with their relationship.
Fortunately, no racy pic or pole dancing scandals have haunted this little Wizard of Waverly Place. Her secret to keeping her image squeaky clean? Cranking out albums virtually every other month. Since March 2010, Selena and the Scene have released 3 studio albums, and the most recent, When the Sun Goes Down, dropped on Tuesday.
Though Ms. Cutie Patootie declares this latest project will show a sexier Selena, I assure all you mommies and babysitters that When the Sun Goes Down is the most tween-friendly album of the year.
My favorite tracks are “Whiplash,” which former Teen Queen, Britney Spears, helped pen, and “Love You Like A Love Song.”
4
Bey named her latest masterpiece 4 to honor her favorite number, but a more fitting title for the album would be “Awesomeness.”
I was skeptical about 4’s potential after hearing Beyonce’s vibrato-heavy performance of “1+1″ during this year’s BMA’s. Then the industry swirled with reports that she and her camp were panicked because “Run The World” wasn’t charting as well as anticipated. My suspicions – for a moment – were validated.
But nothing quells a nasty rumor like the truth. And 4 is just that.
Tracks like “Party” and “Countdown” are playful, upbeat tunes that would fit perfectly on a college student’s playlist. In “Love on Top,” Beyonce’ wows with her signature key changes over brass and percussion accompaniments.
The album exhibits the free-spirited vibe of little sis Solange’s Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams and boasts the boldness that makes Beyonce’ untouchable.
4 is the feel good, fall in love, play on repeat, Summer album of 2011!
10 Years & Counting!
From sporting corn-rows as Ms. Keys to glamming up red carpets as Mrs. Beatz, Alicia has come quite a long way.
Her amazing vocals and incredible songwriting abilities, however, remain unchanged.
And since her legacy has been cemented with ballads, chart toppers, and countless accolades, Alicia Keys is celebrating by releasing Songs in A Minor – 10th Anniversary Edition.
A fresh-faced newbie, Alicia commanded our attention with “Fallin” back in 2001.
Her remake of Prince’s “How Come You Don’t Call Me” is another fave from the album.
The 10th Anniversary Edition has the old tracks we loved from the first release as well as previously unreleased songs and remixes.

Just as we recover from Coachella fever, our temperatures are soaring again in anticipation for Glastonbury, the uber cool British festival. I (like most fans of this annual musical event) am wondering, what the trend of the summer will be? What will my favorite A-lister be wearing?
Kate Moss raised the fashion stakes in 2005 when she wore hotpants, a studded belt and iconic Hunter wellies. La Moss will always be celebrated for her ability to select the perfect outfit for every occasion. Ever since she rocked that look, the right outfit has been as important as the right band!
One of my most liked performers is Beyonce, and she’ll be headlining at the sold out event this year. “This really is the biggest festival in the world and I cannot wait to perform there”. Well I cannot wait to see what the superstar singer is wearing!!
Beyonce was looking unusually casual in denim cut-offs and a graphic tee at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California last year where she surprised festival-goers by joining her husband Jay-Z on stage during his headlining set.
I was fortunate enough to be in the crowd for one of the most talked about headline shows in the history of Glastonbury. In 2008, Jay-Z started his mind-blowing headlining set by walking on stage with an electric guitar singing the celebrated Oasis song ‘Wonderwall’ and winning over a chorus of doubters.
Another one to watch is Alexa Chung whose wardrobe choices consistently fail to disappoint. The trend setter is seen here at Glastonbury in 2008 in a to-die-for leather jacket, Breton stripes and denim short combo!
Glastonbury festival was born the day after Jimi Hendrix died in 1970. 1,500 people paid £1 ($1.65) for entry to and free milk from Worthy Farm in Somerset, it is now the largest on the planet. Gotta love that!

It’s so official. We are only two days away from Billboard Music Awards first televised show in 5 years.
Truthfully, between the Grammys, American Music Awards, Country Music Academy Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, BET Awards, MTV Video Music Awards (goodness, you get the point), were we really even missing Billboard’s presence on the awards show scene?
Mmmm…probably not so much.
But another awards show does give us an excellent excuse to cozy up in front of our televisions on a Sunday night as our favorite artists entertain us…for free!
Now, unlike some awards ceremonies, there are no nail-biting moments when it comes to who’s taking home the interestingly shaped thing-a-ma-jig of a statue. And this is because, Billboard, in all of its record sales authoritative glory, awards artists based on actual sales and on air play in each respective category.
Weird concept, huh?
Simply put, we’ll be watching the BMAs for the performances. Kinda like reading a book for the pictures.
Excited about performances from R&B crooner, Ne-Yo …
… Relatively newcomers, Far East Movement …
… The teddy bear of “The Voice,” Cee-Lo …
… and, of course, girl-power goddess, Beyonce’ …
Since my handy little record-sales tabulator device isn’t functioning, I’ll be sitting in “pretend” suspense with all of you as Rihanna, Eminem, and Justin Bieber rack up during this year’s BMAs telecast.
Enjoy the show.

Never has there been a Pussycat sexier than Scherzinger – as in Nicole.
After years of subscribing to Dr. Dre’s Detox philosophy -teasing fans with the possibility of a solo project then repeatedly postponing its release date - the former PCD front woman finally took the plunge with Killer Love.
Consider yourself lucky if you’re in Europe since Killer Love was officially released there mid-March. America, we get to play the waiting game because the hot body bombshell still hasn’t disclosed the date of her American debut.
Don’t fret. We can still indulge in Nicole as she has already premiered the video for “Right There,” featuring 50 cent.
Rihanna must be seething because “Right There” could have totally been a hit of hers. And Beyonce’ has gotta be amazed that another starlet can do the “Crazy in Love/Uh Oh” dance as well as she. And me…well, I’m jealous because I’m dying to get feather extensions, and Nicole’s blue ones in this video are positively fly.
I’ve always been a fan of Nicole’s “swag” (pardon me for writing the most overused word of the past year) but there’s no other way to describe Scherzinger’s appeal.
While her vocals aren’t off the charts, her confidence is. Even though critics slam her music – from Pussycat Dolls to solo tracks – she’s continually working at finding her personalized niche of entertainment success.
Whenever you start thinking, “I wonder where that Nicole ‘what’s her name’ girl is” she’s right there in some national commercial or on Dancing With The Stars or cranking out some hot new pop track.
Cats really do have 9 lives.
Beyonce’s latest decree is that girls run the world!
She took a break from sitting court side with hubby Jay-Z long enough to make this year’s next big single. Officially released last week, Beyonce’s “Run The World (Girls)” is gradually edging out other chart toppers and bringing along a bit of controversy, too.
“Run The World” samples Major Lazer’s Pon de Floor, a huge club hit from DJs, Diplo and Switch.
And fans and critics are divided on whether or not Beyonce’s new, female-empowerment anthem does the original version justice.
Check out the original and the Beyonce’ version.
Did Major Lazer do it better or do B’s vocals add the perfect touch?

Hi dolls! Recently, a girlfriend was kind enough to send me this adorable kit from celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. The kit is called “Perfect Palette Total Face Kit”- and the name says it all!
Of course, I instantly loved it because well, I always love new makeup, and the set was just too cute with a sparkly carrying case! But, it wasn’t until I opened the included instruction booklet that I realized how amazing the little kit is!
In the booklet, Mally gives you simple, step-by-step instructions on how to create specific looks for different occasions like a pro! So it’s like having your own personal celebrity makeup artist! The looks include: Everyday Pretty, Fresh Sexy Glow, and Nighttime Glam! WOW! All these looks from this little kit? I’m in heaven!
Mally is a favorite among a versatile group of music industry heavyweights and actors including; Beyonce, Ashlee Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, and Hayden Panettiere!
It’s got all you need, complete with your own personal celebrity makeup artist, giving you tips! LOVE it!
Whether you’re new to makeup, or a seasoned pro – this kit is super handy! Really, the instructions are fool-proof. Also, it claims that anyone can wear these colors, regardless of skin tone… they all worked great for me!
The handy little kit is perfect for the girl-on-the go! It fits easily into a normal size purse and includes everything you could possibly need for any occasion. I highly recommend it!
Perfect Palette Total Face Kit includes: • Two blushes in Hula Girl, a sun-kissed natural; and Mally’s Baby, a perfect pink • Six eye shadows in Taupe, a deep, daytime shade; Terrific, a shimmery, festive taupe; Sensational, a rich, pearly charcoal; Mattebright, a pearl-free light shade; Brownies, a perfect neutral brown; and Plum Wicked, a rich plum • One lip color in French Kiss, a natural pink • One cream highlighter in Radiance, a touch of light color • One blush brush • One shadow brush • One liner brush • One sequined pouch
So, basically the only thing it doesn’t have is your foundation – which is so personal you wouldn’t want it coming in an all-in-one kit anyway.
My faves from the kit: I LOVE the highlighter! I use it everyday. And the blush in “Hula Girl.” – Mix those two together for the perfect beachy glow. Also, the mirror is HUGE! It’s the largest mirror I own that fits in my purse – LOVE! – And, of course I die over the sparkly case.
So, I just had to tell you all about my exciting new find! I’m so in love with it right now.

Throughout Black History Month, we will highlight various artists whose influence helped mend race relations in America through music. Today’s highlight is opera legend, Marian Anderson.
Powerful without being intimidating. Flawless and inviting. You don’t have to be a fan of opera music to recognize the beauty in Marian Anderson’s voice.
In the early 1900s, Anderson’s singing career began in a small Baptist church choir. And by studying and learning each voice’s part, she began perfecting her incredible vocal range. Initially, Marian was rejected from singing on “Whites Only” stages and was denied admission into segregated performing arts colleges. However, the racial tensions of early 20th century America were no match for Anderson’s voice, and the budding opera legend moved to Europe, touring there for several years.
After being well-received in Europe, white Americans became more receptive to Anderson, and in 1955, she became the first black American to perform at New York Metropolitan Opera. Her presence in Europe helped shape a positive image of black Americans throughout the world. Performing at NY’s Metropolitan Opera helped give more entertainment opportunities for other singers of color.
Amidst political and social unrest, Marian Anderson shared her talents with classical pieces like, “Ave Maria,”
…making it possible for singers like Beyonce to enjoy the same privileges.
In our pop-culture obsessed society, we sometimes forget to applaud the pioneers of the very art forms we vlog, blog, and consume ourselves with everyday. Positively Celebrity salutes Marian Anderson for being a civil rights trail blazer and for having one of opera’s most outstanding voices.
(February 27, 1897 – April 8, 1993)

The camera pans the crowd, catching glimpses of crying, sweating concert goers sporting temporary tattoos bearing her name. From Africa to America, tens of thousands of screaming fans fill stadiums just to experience this larger-than-life entertainer.
If you’re one of the unlucky ones who hasn’t seen this Diva perform live, last week’s ”I Am…World Tour” Thanksgiving special gave an intimate look into how her Royal Hotness rules the world wearing nothing more than a leotard, Spanx, and 4-inch stilettos.
She is…BEYONCE!
Admittedly, I am one of the unlucky ones who hasn’t seen Ms. B live in concert. Well, I recant that statement. I DID see her perform when she was still the lead singer of Destiny’s Child in 2000 at Disney World’s Grad Nite. Mmmm…that was TEN years ago…I’m guessing that doesn’t qualify.
So, Beyonce,’ if you’re reading this, I will totally take you up on the offer if you want to surprise me and a group of friends with a private suite at your next show. Hey, just throwing it out there into the universe.
“I Am…World Tour” special starts with Beyonce’ taking a helicopter ride over NYC en route to a first rehearsal for her tour. Next, you see video clips of Beyonce’ “doing work” as she punctuates even the most minor details of her upcoming show. In the first few minutes, a rarely revealed side of Beyonce’ is exposed - very little make-up, her normally curly mane is bone straight, and she gets a bit assertive when talking to her crew about last minute preparations.
Immediately, I was excited to watch all 1 hour and 30 minutes of the show.
Now, I am a lover of many Beyonce’ trends. I never got down with the Predator braids from the days of “Say My Name…”
…But I have followed B’s instructions from “Get Me Bodied” and have done the Naomi Campbell walk across the club and have dropped down low and hit the floor.
Note: Supermodels rarely get their “eagle on” in public, so don’t attempt those two moves in the same night like I did.
And even though I dashed to the nearest American Apparel after the “Single Ladies” video premiered and bought a small arsenal of leotards, I always found a way to be critical of Beyonce.’
In one breath I would say, “Yeah, Beyonce, is a great performer, but you can tell she has to work hard at picking up choreography.” Ooooor I have even said, “Yeah, I like a lot of her songs, but she doesn’t really have any ballads. All her songs have a pronounced base line.”
She’s great, so why hate?
The “Naughty Girl” has always kept a barrier between herself and the media’s prying eye, so it’s easy to criticize when you can’t figure someone out. Watching Beyonce’s behind-the-scenes action during “I Am” made me understand and appreciate her and her influence in a way that I never have before.
Okay…so maybe she has never emphatically said, “Yes, I am married to Jay Z.” But because she knows her fans want to feel connected to that part of her personal life, she brings Jay-Z on stage for guest duos, and throughout her performances, she throws up the infamous “Roc” diamond made popular by her hubby.
At one point, Beyonce’s music video factory was cranking out new videos seemingly every other week, and critics quipped that she was overexposed. Well, at her concerts, faithful fans recite each lyric, mimic every dance move, and cling to every note. If you had millions of people depending on you to inspire and to entertain, you, too, would make sure your presence was always known – even if that meant there was a potential for over exposure.
Think back on all the one-note, Beyonce’ interviews you’ve seen in the past. You know the ones where she’s overly cautious and super secretive and avoids answering those “gotcha” type questions? “I Am,” if only a teeny bit, makes up for some of those cupcake interviews.
Spoiler Alert: She does NOT reveal the name or the projected birth date of her first born, but from watching, you do get the feeling that what you’re seeing is genuinely Beyonce.’
“I Am,” more than so many of Beyonce’s other ga-gillion accomplishments, is one of her best pieces of work. With each high-energy performance, you feel like you’re one barricade and security guard away from the real thing. Most importantly, the documentary really does show how deeply she respects her talents and how dedicated she is to cultivating her gifts.
With that kind of die -hard commitment and relentless work ethic, she will forever be 10 Louboutin steps ahead of the rest.

The 2010 Country Music Association Awards were a little bit country and a LOT rock and roll, and if you missed the 3 hour long extravaganza last week, here’s a quick recap.
Looking as radiant as ever, a very married Carrie Underwood (as evidenced by her BLINGED out left hand) set the night’s tone with a dynamic, opening performance of “Songs Like This.” Strutting around the stage in red stilettos and in tight black pants, Underwood, despite her twang, sounded more like a pop star than a country queen.
After dazzling the crowd with her performance, Underwood and co-host, Brad Paisley, began handing out honors on this star studded occasion. Taking home one of the night’s first awards was Lady Antebellum. The Grammy Award winning trio edged out Miranda Lambert, Easton Corbin, and Blake Shelton to win Best Single for “I Need You Now.”
Miranda Lambert wasn’t a runner-up for long, though; this year’s CMA Awards Prom Queen was nominated for nine awards – the most nominations ever for a female artist in one year. Performing “That’s The Way The World Goes ‘Round” from her album, Revolution, Lambert owned the stage, embodying “sexy country,” during her high energy set.
Revolution won Album of the Year, Lambert was named Female Vocalist of the Year, and “The House That Built Me” received Music Video of the Year honors.
Still basking in the glory of Speak Now and its first week sales of 1 million, Taylor Swift played piano and sang, “Back to December.” Later in the show, Reba McEntire put her southern flare on a refreshing rendition of Beyonce’s, “If I Were A Boy.”
Certainly, the women were the sass of the city in Nashville on Wednesday, but the men were equally debonair at the 44th annual awards ceremony.
An authentic country boy decked out in jeans and strumming a guitar, Blake Shelton would have won the award for Most Handsome Male Singer if such a category existed.
He was positively charming during his live performance of hit, “All About Tonight.” However, Shelton is engaged to Miranda Lambert and is off the market. So enjoy the video below because that’s about as close to him as you can get.
Kenny Chesney was just as dapper as he performed “The Boys of Fall.” An endearing song paying homage to the pageantry and tradition of football, Chesney sang with such emotion that I felt compelled to strap on a helmet and take snaps under center.
Technically, it was an awards show, so it is worth mentioning some of the night’s big winners:
Zac Brown Band won Best New Artist…
Sugarland won for Vocal Duo of the Year…
And Brad Paisley took home the coveted, Entertainer of the Year trophy.
Aside from lasting 3 hours and Gwyneth Paltrow’s anti-climatic, country music singing debut, Nashville was right on the money with this year’s CMA Awards. It will be difficult for the Association to match the excellence of this year’s show again.
A job well done in celebrating country’s roots and in embracing the evolution of the genre.
