Gisele & Tom Brady Positively Engaged?

Posted on 01 Jan 2009 at 9:13pm

Although the Internet has been flooded with reports claiming otherwise, it appears that Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady are not engaged, at least according to the couple’s families and close associates.

“We don’t know a thing about it,” Tom Brady Sr. told the Boston Globe.  “Nobody told me.  We talked to him and there’s nothing to say.  It’s rumor, rumor, rumor.”

The Brazilian model’s sister, Patricia, also disregarded the possibly-pending wedding, telling the Boston Herald it’s “not true.”

New England Patriots spokesman Stacey James told Usmagazine.com, “I heard the reports of the rumor, but I don’t know if they are true.  Tom likes to keep this private life private and I respect that.”

For the time being Gisele has not been sporting an engagement ring since the story broke.  Nevertheless, the couple and their families could be downplaying the story to allow for as much privacy as they can.

Wedding Bells Ring for Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

Posted on 28 Nov 2008 at 6:30pm

MTV’s The Hills stars, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, exchanged nuptials in a secret ceremony in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico, on Nov. 20, Us Weekly reports in its newest issue.

It wasn’t the first time the couple had wedding planning on their minds. In 2007, Pratt popped the question (after just eight months of dating) with a diamond-encrusted platinum band set with a purple stone that he’d purchased from the mall.

Montag broke it off after only a few months because Pratt apparently wasn’t ready to give up his bachelor lifestyle hitting on other women in a club.

“I’d just turned 21, and it was scary because I was so young,” Montag told Us following the split. But the pair gave it another (evidently successful) try in May 2008.

“The minute we said our vows, I couldn’t stop crying,” Montag, 22, tells Us.

Though, it seems that everyone in the family won’t be quite as thrilled about the nuptials, particularly Montag’s mom.

“I called her right before the ceremony, sort of hinted that something that happened, but her reaction was to ask me if we were breaking up! I told her it might be something else, and she said, ‘Well, if you ever plan on getting married just know that your stepdad is really upset that you want your father to walk you down the aisle,’” Montag tells Us.

“She was starting so much drama, it kind of pushed me toward wanting to get married without that,” she adds. “I don’t know when I’ll tell her.”

“Sweet Baby, James” To The Rescue!

Posted on 19 Oct 2008 at 7:03pm

Associated Press reports that James Taylor will play five upcoming free concerts in North Carolina in support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Taylor has concerts scheduled in Charlotte, Asheville, Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Wilmington beginning this Sunday.

Taylor was raised in Chapel Hill (home of the Tar Heels), and has at times used his celebrity to highlight political candidates in the state. The Grammy winner will encourage Obama supporters to hit the polls early in North Carolina.

Obama has been investing heavily in the state to try and swing a state that hasn’t voted for a Democratic president since 1976. Republican rival John McCain has been increasing his presence to defend the state. 32 years is a long drought for the Democrats, though. They’re due.

Look out McCain! It’s ‘Sweet baby James’ to the rescue for Barack Obama.

The DVD Files – “The Assassination of Jesse James”

Posted on 12 Oct 2008 at 9:50pm

As a Western, director Andrew Dominik doesn’t use a lot of shootouts, fainting women, or “high noon” dialogue typical to some Westerns. But “Assassination” doesn’t bear a resemblance to the Western genre at all, it takes advantage of creativity and storytelling. The real plot is celebrity fascination, that of Ford fascinated by James.  The fatally fated duo is played by Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck as they escort the audience through the last few days of the infamous Jesse James’ life.

The Good: Casey Affleck – In the beginning, Affleck depicts Robert Ford as a star struck young man who finally meets his hero. Later, Ford becomes as a man who feels guilty for his cowardice actions and becomes a mild celebrity himself.  There is a pathetic aspect to Ford and how he maneuvers into James’ life.  Ford is tactical about joining and sustaining a close relationship with his idol and Affleck is effortless in portraying this.

The Cinematography – This film is mesmerizing to watch. Just little factors like blurred edges of the screen with a clear center generate an old fashioned mood. It’s as if we are outsiders taking in the scenery.

A Different Look at a Legend – Thinking of the notorious Jesse James may bring up images of robberies, bandanas worn over a face, Wanted posters and the like. But this movie adds to those mental images by showing the side of him that loved his wife and children, the side that was intuitive and knew friends from enemies. It’s an intriguing “day in the life” type story.

Going Beyond – The film continues post Jesse’s murder revealing Ford’s life after the death of his hero. Ford’s patheticness doesn’t go away. Choosing not to end the film at Jesse James’ death gives the audience a look as to what happens after an infamous man’s murder in the 1880’s. There was no CSI, only the fact that Ford’s brother told James’ wife that the gun accidentally went off, thus adding to the mystery of the legend.

Cons: Time – It’s too long! It’s difficult to dedicate so much time to watching the whole thing in one sitting.

Subtitles – The accents make the dialogue difficult to understand, so much so, that I had to put the subtitles on.

Getting Lost – Because of its length and that it’s so full of dialogue and narration and scenery, viewers may feel like they get lost within the movie.

Summary: Rent it or get it On Demand. “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” is a terrific example of quality filmmaking. It tells the story of a haunting life as a celebrity in the 1880’s and how, even back then, people were fascinated by fame.

With Amy One Never Knows…

Posted on 31 Aug 2008 at 4:51pm

Amy Winehouse didn’t show up at a performance in Paris on Friday night, reps stating she was too sick to perform.

Here’s the thing: That just might be true, especially if reports are accurate that she does indeed have emphysema, and if it’s taken a turn for the worse.

But here’s the other thing: one of Amy’s reps is reported as saying (I’m paraphrasing here), ‘It ain’t serious enough to go to the hospital. She’s just in bed and can’t sing.’ To which I say: BOGUS! The rest of us report in for duty when we’re “under the weather.”

Get with the program, Amy! People pay a LOT to see you make an arse of yourself onstage – and you have an obligation not to disappoint.” On the other hand, if by chance you really are sick and end up in the hospital, then disregard anything written here.

Dancing with the Stars Reveals Season Lineup

Posted on 28 Aug 2008 at 11:49pm

Dancing with the Stars officials revealed this season’s lineup, which includes more than a few recognized performers, such as R&B Grammy award-winner, Toni Braxton.

Joining Braxton will be ABC’s All My Children egomaniac, Susan Lucci; Sugar Ray frontman cum celebrity reporter, Mark McGrath; TV and stage legend, Cloris Leachman; “Beautiful-but-is-she-really-talented?” Kim Kardashian; former ‘N Sync boy band member, Lance Bass; Ted McGinley, best known as Al’s Bundy’s next door neighbor on Married With Children; Olympic volleyball gold medalist, Misty May-Treanor; celebrity chef, Rocco Dispirito; and Brooke Burke, former Wild On E! and Rock Star host.

Wow…and to think there was nothing to look forward to this season.

Maybe the Babies Will Make the RNC Too…

If you thought that “The Governator” Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the most famous Hollywood celebrity attending the upcoming 2008 Republican National Convention in the Twin Cities next week, think again.

Although it’s not confirmed, my sources say that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will show up and lend their support to the Grand Old Party.

We shouldn’t be too surprised about this possibility, since outspoken comedienne Roseanne hinted at Brangelina’s conservative leanings on her recent blog, causing quite the stir.

With new parents Pitt-Jolie as part of the fun, the GOP just might outdo the democrats for celebrity party punch!
