Just five days before Hugh Hefner and his playmate fiancée, Crystal Harris, were set to exchange “I do’s”, Crystal said “I don’t”.

Hef broke the news by tweeting, “The wedding is off. Crystal has had a change of heart.”

The 25-year-old playmate then took to her website to explain her decision. “After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef. I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time.”

The breakup was reportedly fueled by an explosive argument between the couple, which resulted in Crystal packing up and moving out of the Playboy Mansion.

More than 300 people were expected to attend the wedding, which would have been the third for 85-year-old Hugh Hefner.

But it looks like Hef and Crystal won’t let a little wedding blues get them down. On what was supposed to be her wedding day, Crystal traded in her gown for a bikini! She was spotted partying at Las Vegas’ Wet Republic, with reality star, Heidi Montag. The two posed for pictures, danced poolside and flipped through Crystal’s latest spread in Playboy.

Crystal told reporters, “I’m doing okay, I just had to get away.”

Meanwhile, Hef doesn’t seem too lonely himself. According to E! News, The Playboy founder already has himself a NEW number one girlfriend…and she just happens to be Crystal’s best friend – or shall we say former best friend – Anna Sophia Berglund!!

Word is that Crystal had begged Hef to make her BFF a playmate, which eventually led to Hef naming Anna “Miss January 2011”.

With 2009 here – what a better time to reminisce over 2008’s big celeb trends?

These are not your mother’s pearls. Double Strand Pearls made a statement in 2008, adding a classic piece to edgy looks like Ashlee Simpson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow.

She’s all legs. Though some of us might run screaming in the other direction from wearing skin tight leggings- Not Rihanna, Heidi Klum and Ashley Olson. These fashionistas show off their good fortune in shiny, latex leggings that leave hardly anything to the imagination.

Navy Dresses. Always sleek and sophisticated, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon and Claire Danes sparkle in these sapphire dresses.

I love scarves, pashminas and this trend! Heidi Montag, Jennifer Aniston, Eva Longoria Parker amped up the basic tote with fun and useful patterned scarves. Take note 2009-this trend is to stay!

Gladiator heels were a big 2008 trend.  Ashley Olsen, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Heidi Klum wear a stylish of the strappy heel.

Blazers over dresses offered a chic and stylish way to cover up flirty dresses.  Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Whitney Port still look cool and fashionable in their fitted blazers.

Heidi Montag’s mom dished to Us Weekly about her outlook on the quickie marriage between her daughter and Spencer Pratt, two stars from MTV’s The Hills.

“I think it’s the biggest mistake Heidi’s ever made,” Darlene Egelhoff, 46, told Us.

“He’s manipulative and seems to have power over Heidi,” she said in an exclusive interview from her home in Crested Butte, Colorado the day after Montag, 22, blew off Thanksgiving with her family to stay with Pratt, 25, in Cabo San Lucas., the site of her November 20 elopement.

“Spencer has tried to cut everyone out of her life,” Egelhoff told Us. “I’ve been honest with Heidi, and it’s caused our relationship to decline. I’m more devastated about that than the marriage, because I’m confident the marriage won’t work out.”

She suspects the marriage will be over by six months.

“I want the best for my daughter – and he’s definitely not it. I think Spencer wants to possess Heidi more than marry her.”

The new issue of Us Weekly reports, Montag’s attitude toward her mother, “She should be happy I found someone I love,” she said, “Some people go their entire lives without finding that.”

Adds Pratt, who famously calls Egelhoff “Stalker Mom”: “I think her mom needs to take a real fat chill pill and be happy for her.

MTV’s The Hills stars, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, returned to Los Angeles Monday evening after eloping last Wednesday and honeymooning in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

US Weekly reports that during The Hills live post-show Pratt, 25, phoned in to answer why he took the plunge with his girlfriend Montag.

“Hello. What led to it? The fact that I have been trying this for two and a half years now. It came out of nowhere, it was my shot,” he said. “We thought, ‘let’s do it’. We were chillin’ on the beach with Patron margaritas on the rocks talking about how much we love one another, there was a chapel in the neighborhood, we thought, ‘let’s do it!’”

Montag, 22, recalled the vows over the phone. “I really started crying. The love of my life is saying the most amazing things,” she said. “It was the best moment of my life. It was so surreal. I kept thinking I love this man more than anything in the entire world.”

What about thigh high socks? Heidi Montag, Vanessa Hudgens and Caridee English make a statement in their school-girl inspired frocks.

MTV’s The Hills stars, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, exchanged nuptials in a secret ceremony in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico, on Nov. 20, Us Weekly reports in its newest issue.

It wasn’t the first time the couple had wedding planning on their minds. In 2007, Pratt popped the question (after just eight months of dating) with a diamond-encrusted platinum band set with a purple stone that he’d purchased from the mall.

Montag broke it off after only a few months because Pratt apparently wasn’t ready to give up his bachelor lifestyle hitting on other women in a club.

“I’d just turned 21, and it was scary because I was so young,” Montag told Us following the split. But the pair gave it another (evidently successful) try in May 2008.

“The minute we said our vows, I couldn’t stop crying,” Montag, 22, tells Us.

Though, it seems that everyone in the family won’t be quite as thrilled about the nuptials, particularly Montag’s mom.

“I called her right before the ceremony, sort of hinted that something that happened, but her reaction was to ask me if we were breaking up! I told her it might be something else, and she said, ‘Well, if you ever plan on getting married just know that your stepdad is really upset that you want your father to walk you down the aisle,’” Montag tells Us.

“She was starting so much drama, it kind of pushed me toward wanting to get married without that,” she adds. “I don’t know when I’ll tell her.”

Taking a page out of Oliva Newton John’s book, Heidi Montag is sporting fashions circa 1980 for the video of her new single ‘Overdosin.’

It was as if her and her cast played dress-up at American Apparel clad in tube socks, leotards, and lamé. Constant companion Spencer Pratt was seen on set with paddle brush and curling iron in hand teasing Montag’s platinum locks in-between takes. He did not have a cameo in her video, nor does he rap on this track.

Conveniently, her single was released as a precursor to The Hills Season 4 and the video shoot in the wake of the show that aired Monday. Needless to say, Montag has enjoyed a week heavy in media attention.

No stranger to criticism that follows her music career, Montag actually has put out a single that should prove to be a closeted-favorite. If you like the bubble-gum pop with a 1985 beat ‘Overdosin’ is not half bad. 

Alright, this one is for my trendsetters. Attention daredevils walking outside the pretty circle and teetering on the edge of fashion: If you’re looking for something different, listen up!

Skinny jeans? Check. Form fitting mini skirt? Check. Okay, now add a bright-colored jacket to make an impression. Who needs casual anyway? Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Katherine Heigl all tackle the bright jacket with dark denim and black skirt contrast. This stunning contradiction is sure to get attention.

Leather mini skirts are no longer 80s. Bring them back! Selita Ebanks, Ashley Olsen and Nicky Hilton all hopped on the trendy wagon, People Magazine said. Pair with gladiator heels and you are a force.

Business women, pay attention. It’s time to spice up the office. Wear a “short suit” like Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Natalie Portman. Match your basic black suit jacket with a skirt or shorts, some heels and accessories and you will definitely be “fiscally responsible.”

Yellow is my favorite color. And it might become yours after you try on these jeans. Add pop and color to your ensemble with sunny yellow like Heidi Montag, Jada Pinkett Smith and Audrina Patridge. In fact you can add just about any color.
