As the weather changes, our wardrobe changes — and sometimes we need a little inspiration during these times. Like any fashionista, I go through phases of looks that I love, so I thought I would share with you my “inspirations and obsessions” that help get me dressed every morning!
There are many things that inspire the way I dress, from my overall look to my day-to-day style.
My inspirations? Art, authenticity, beach, bohemian, bold, boutiques, Brazil, daisy’s, exotic locations, fashion shows, fresh air, hiking, hippies, Hollywood, love, originals, outdoors, peace, perfume, photography, traveling and vintage anything.
Currently I am channeling a look that says “innocent with a dark secret” or in other words… “preppy grunge”
My obsessions? Accessories, aviators, black pumps, blazers, booties, crop tops, genuine leather, gold, hand bags, layering, mini’s (dresses), nail polish, neutrals, sequins, skinny jeans, stripes, and watches.
It’s most important to be true to yourself and your style. I don’t think it’s about being trendy or “in-style”, it’s about being unique and having the confidence to pull-off your desired look. Confidence in yourself is key!
I’m also all about mixing vintage with designer labels, and wearing a combination of price points from head-to-toe. Designer labels mean nothing to me – I simply wear what I like and what flatters my body type.
If you’re struggling to get ready every morning and sick of all the clothes in your closet, make a list of what inspires you and what your obsessions are, and I assure that you will find your positively true style!
Tony’s, Emmy’s, Grammy’s, VMA’s, CMA’s… Award season gives us a lot to look forward to. From seeing all our favorite celebs dressed to impress all in the same place to finding out who takes home the trophy this year, these upcoming events are always entertaining to watch (even when we’re not invited.)
The 2010 Emmy Awards have been much anticipated this year especially with hit new shows such as Glee and Modern Family added to the competition.
Hollywood literally rolled out the red carpet for Sunday’s Emmy’s which was hosted by Late Night star and SNL alum Jimmy Fallon. I most enjoyed the star-studded opening number, the fabulous fashion and Glee to dominate this year!
Mark your calendars country music fans, because the 2010 CMA Awards will be November 10, 2010 and back by popular demand the event will be hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley for the third year in a row. Special performances will include Kid Rock and Martina McBride.
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will be bigger than ever this year!
On September 12, 2010 our favorite sassy comedian Chelsea Handler (Chelsea Lately) will host the VMA’s live from Los Angeles.
The star-studded list of performers include: Drake, Justin Beiber, Eminem, Kanye West, and B.o.B.
The two major contenders battling out for the most ‘moon man’ awards this year will be the fierce duo: Lady Gaga and Beyonce. I’m going to go with GaGa this year!
Happy Awards Season!

Not only is the hit new ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars our favorite guilty pleasure, but the cast is so unbelievably good-looking it’s hard to stop watching! How is it that their hair always looks so perfect? We can take a few tips from these lovely leading ladies and try to imitate their red carpet looks.
Shay Mitchell rocks the one shoulder look and pulls her long hair all to one side. The plum shade on her eyes and rose-colored lips look great against her olive skin.
Ashley Benson pulls off the middle part beautifully and this smoky eye shadow really makes her blue eyes pop.
Troian Avery Bellisario looks classic with this thick ribbon headband and the red lip really pops against her porcelain skin.
Lucy Hale looks stunning with her dark beachy waves. To get this look, wrap pieces of your hair around the barrel of a 1 to 1.5 inch curling iron and then run fingers through to separate.
Now, Pretty Little Ladies, take these looks and make them your own!

Betty White must be having the best year ever. She hosted Saturday Night Live, got nominated for an Emmy, had a hilarious super bowl ad that went viral, landed a role in a brand new sitcom Hot in Cleveland, and now she is cashing in on her success. But don’t worry; this ‘golden girl’ is definitely not selfish!
According to the Associated Press, the 88-year-old actress posed for a 2011 calendar that will go on sale this September and all proceeds will go to her favorite charity, the Morris Animal Foundation. The fabulous calendar features photos of her with animals and some with half-naked men. Go Betty!
Now she revealed to US Magazine that she will also be producing a clothing line of hoodies and T-shirts with Jerry Leigh Apparel. A portion of the proceeds will benefit her philanthropic organization as well.
The apparel, which is available for $48 at Hoodiebuddie.com, includes colorful Warhol-like photos of Betty and one says ‘Long live the queen!’
What do you think? Will you be buying a Betty White hoodie or calendar?
Being in the spotlight isn’t always glamorous. While having to deal with constant media speculation about their love lives, A-listers such as Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock have also had to deal with stalkers.
According to E-Online, Jennifer Aniston obtained a restraining order against a man who was found waiting at her house holding a sharp object, a bag, duct tape, and written messages. The 24-year-old Pennsylvania man, Jason Peyton, has a history of violence and criminal stalking. He told police, “Jennifer communicated to me mentally that she wants me to come and marry her, and wants me to be the father of her children.” The restraining order now restricts him from being within 100 yards from her at all times.
Sandra Bullock also renewed a restraining order on Monday against a 41-year-old man who has been stalking her since 2003, according to the Associated Press. Last month the stalker, Thomas James Weldon, entered a hospital in Wyoming and told staff he had driven from Tennessee to meet the Oscar-winning actress at her home. Bullock sued the state of Tennessee in 2006 to notify her of Weldon’s release from the mental institution. He has since sent Bullock numerous faxes and emails which has led her to renew an order to keep Weldon from visiting any of her homes or movie sets.
This is a very scary thing that many celebrities, public figures, athletes and anyone in the public eye experience. Stay safe!

Rich, famous, and charitable… That’s the trend that some celebrities are setting this year. Performing artists and actors alike are joining forces to use their celebrity statuses for a good cause.
According to the Associated Press, Alicia Keys has recently recruited ‘Empire State of Mind’ collaborator Jay-Z and music artist Sade to perform this year at her charity’s annual Black Ball.
The event will take place September 30th at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom and will benefit the “Keep a Child Alive” AIDS organization. This event, which Keys co-founded, has helped raise over $10 million since 2004 for children and families in Africa and India.
It seems the idea of mixing ‘red carpet’ with ‘red cross’ is catching on.
The Hollywood premiere for the movie “Inception,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, on Tuesday July 13th had a similar purpose of raising awareness.
The event took place at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, and according to Yahoo! News all the proceeds from the premiere ticket sales will go to Alliance for Climate Protection. Chairman of the organization, Al Gore, spoke at the sold-out event and told audience members, “Raising awareness of the climate crisis is our duty.”
Even if you weren’t lucky enough to snag an invite to one of these star-studded charity events, you can still contribute to the causes! For more information visit:
That’s the slogan for the entertainment company Cinespia, responsible for the summer outdoor movie screenings at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Just about everyone in L.A. has at some point either gone or has thought about going to a screening at Hollywood Forever. And while it’s more chill than spooky, it’s also creepy to think that though ghosts the likes of Johnny Ramone, Tyrone Power, Cecil B. DeMille and others might not be close by, their decaying remains are.
I personally have attended screenings every year since I moved to this city, and the experiences have definitely changed over time. It seems that though the number of attendants is relatively the same, Cinespia has hired more people to work the field and run the grounds. But despite more people “helping” to coordinate the large masses of people toting their booze and Trader Joe’s goodies, going to a screening now can turn into one big hot chaotic mess if you don’t know how to navigate. So here are a few tips…
First off, parking inside the cemetery might seem like a good idea, but alas, it is not. It’s going to take you forever to get in as cars line up around the block and you’ll wind up not getting a good seat to watch the film. It will also take you forever to exit the cemetery because all of the drunk pedestrians aren’t watching where they’re going. Park in one of the residential areas and get yourself in line about a half hour before the gates open (check their website as times vary). You ARE allowed to bring booze, so coordinate that when packing your picnic. Thousands of people will be there, so if you have a weak bladder, make sure you sit close to the porta-poddies and can avoid trapsing through hundreds of people spreads. And lastly, just be aware and conscious of others around you. One inconsideration can ruin a groups entire experience.
Hurry! Summer’s almost over. Check out their website at Cinespia.org to see the rest of their line-up for the year. Enjoy the show people!
No female artist could hold a cherry to Kelis’s “Milkshake” when she was at the top of her game. Provocative lyrics and an equally provocative video, even the most innocent of listeners knew she wasn’t talking about a Dairy Queen dessert. Girls across the world were assigning flavors to their own shakes with hopes that theirs, too, would have the Kelis affect on the boys.
Alternative. Edgy. Interesting. Kelis. Enter, Lady Gaga.
“Just Dance” quickly rose to the top of everyone’s play lists and to the top of the charts. Catchy tune + hot video = instant success. A looooooong string of hits followed, and since then, there’s been no stopping this platinum blond phenom. The hot topic of music and of fashion (love it or hate it), Gaga is riding her “Disco Stick” waaaay ahead of the pack.
Kelis revisits her dance/electro roots with her new album “Flesh Tone.” With just the first listen, there’s no doubt that she and Lady Gaga share similar musical styles. Flesh Tone’s “Home” and “Emancipate” are reminiscent of any Gaga dance track. In fact, Gaga’s probably jealous that she didn’t snab the lyrics, “science fiction technology…welcome to the 22nd century” from the album’s second song.
But if you’re jamming out to Lady Gaga’s “Paper Gangster,” your ears might fool you into thinking you’re listening to Kelis. And the first several bars of Gaga’s “Shake Ure Kitty” will take you back to “Kelis Was Here” (which, though sales were dismal, was an amazing album). Hearing Gaga in that song’s intro convinces you that she and Kelis are each other’s voice doppelgangers.
Both are influenced by hip hop and techno, so if you like one, most likely, you’ll enjoy the other. But it’s the Lady who wins this Battle of the Babes. Kelis reintroduced edgy, but Gaga grabbed it by its horns and is still riding it out.

One ‘mean girl’ is getting put in detention. After almost three years after her first DUI arrest, Lindsay Lohan was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation.
According to E-Online, Lohan failed to attend her court-ordered weekly alcohol education classes as part of her probation, stemming from two DUI’s and a count of reckless driving she racked up in 2007.
In May 2010, Lohan had also failed to show up for her mandatory progress hearing, claiming she was stuck in France without a passport, according to People Magazine. As a result, she was sentenced to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet and was subjected to random drug testing.
Looks like it’s three strikes and Lindsay’s out… of luck. At her court hearing Tuesday July 6th, Lohan made a heartfelt plea to Judge Marsha Revel insisting that, “As far as I know I was being in compliance with my program…I thought it was okay to miss those classes.” Fighting through her tears, she added, “I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life and my career.”
But, Judge Revel wasn’t buying it. “I couldn’t have been more clear . There are no excuses,” Revel said. Lohan was sentenced to 30 days for each infraction, ordered to complete a 90-day inpatient substance abuse program directly following her release, and fulfill a probation that restricts her from drinking alcohol until August 2011.
She will serve her jail time starting at 8:30 am on July 20th at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA.
