It’s that time of year again! Get ready to say “Guten Tag” to Heidi Klum and the rest of the Project Runway family as the hit Lifetime reality competition is now officially in it’s eighth season tonight!
Klum kicked it with Regis and Kelly this week to let the world know that this time, the fashion series is getting supersized. PR is going to a whole 90 minutes from the hour-long program it used to be.
According to the German supermodel, we’re gonna love the extended time. This year’s contestants are a little nuts, and an hour and a half run time will give us all the insanity we need. “They’re crazy,” Heidi said concerning the competitors. “The ambulance has come three times!”
Fierce fashion and deranged designers?! Danke, Heidi, danke.
“This is the most recession-proof business there is,” Jennifer Love Hewitt told Entertainment Tonight about her most recent role as housewife turned prostitute in Lifetime’s The Client List.
Hewitt plays Samantha Horton, who Lifetime tags as a “former homecoming queen and physical therapist.” After her and her husband are both laid off, Samantha takes a job at a massage studio. The movie centers around the craziness that ensues when Samantha realizes the masseuses add a happy ending to their rub downs…and decides to partake in the business herself!
J. Love said the movie is all about what one will do to provide for her family. Speaking of family, Hewitt said in her ET interview that her mom is pumped about her daughter’s time as a hooker. “My mom’s like, ‘I’m so proud. You’re pole dancing and you’re going to play a prostitute. Awesome!”
Well now Hewitt can show her mom a thing or two around a pole. She took pole dancing classes “because it really, really gets you in shape…it also really teaches you about your inner sexuality.”
Catch Hewitt displaying that sexuality for some wealthy businessmen tonight in The Client List, premiering on Lifetime at 9pm.
After months of speculation, LeeAnn Rimes and husband Dean Sheremet have finally acknowledged their separation. A “friend” announced that they were separated ‘for quite some time but were working through their relationship.’
Really? Is that what it’s called these days? Hard to work through a relationship when a third wheel is involved. In this case that third wheel is Eddie Cibrian, Rimes’ co-star in the Lifetime original movie Northern Lights where the two met in 2008.
Just recently Cibrian’s wife of announced that they were no longer a couple. Meanwhile, the Rimes/Sheremet Nashville home is on the market to be sold. How’s that for working through a relationship?
Reality television has left the Hollywood Hills for Capitol Hill. A new show, based on MTV’s The Hills, will follow D.C. socialite Katherine Kennedy (pictured above), boutique owner Krista Johnson, and Sophie Pyle, a student on hiatus from UNC.
While the girls are blonde and yes, beautiful…there’s a twist. They call themselves the “Charity Mafia” for their devotion to philanthropy, and Kennedy has a masters degree in business and technology from Georgetown University. This isn’t exactly sounding like The Hills that we all know and love…
But before you assume that the bevy of attractive (and smart?) do-gooders will translate into drama-free television, think again. Producers found the girls on a members-only D.C. social networking site, Late Night Shots, whose members’ partying antics and “trust-fund baby” status have been met with intense dislike by a number of D.C. area denizens.
Although it appears that the show is not lacking in potential Speidis, the producers are having difficulty casting men. Perhaps reality television star on your resume won’t impress when trying to land that coveted internship on The Hills.
While MTV has more than their hands full with L.C. and her crew, the new reality show has landed itself a prime spot: following Project Runway on Lifetime. Is L.C. about to be so last season?
TBS. TNT. Lifetime. AMC. Cable networks like these are giving viewers a reason to stray from broadcast TV by airing new original programming.
The A&E Networks’ Bio Channel is another one. You might not know the channel, but Variety reports that total viewers increased 25 percent and adults 25-54 increased 46 percent since last year. Now it’s looking to snatch more viewers with additional original shows.
On Aug. 19, William Shatner’s Shatner’s Raw Nerve premieres. Variety reports that Shatner will interview guests like Jon Voight, Jimmy Kimmel, Kelsey Grammer and fellow Star Trek alum Leonard Nimoy. What makes this show different than other talk shows according to E! is that Shatner will interview guests when they are not promoting their projects.
If you can’t get enough of celebrities interviewing other celebrities, The Chris Isaak Hour includes live performances and Chris Isaak interviewing popular musical guests.
Besides the celeb world, Bio Channel also offers glimpses of the police world in Female Forces, which follows 18 policewomen in a Chicago suburb, and Why I Ran, which features interviews with people who have led police on high-speed car chases.
Other Bio Channel mainstays I Survived and Biography have been renewed.
Lifetime, once home to campy made for television movies and Golden Girls, is getting a lot hipper this fall.
The network, which is already home to the hit show Army Wives and will become home to Project Runway in the fall when it moves from Bravo, has many new shows in the works.
Variety recently reported that Lifetime ordered a pilot called The Amazing Mrs. Novak based on the six-part BBC series, The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard. Novak centers on Trish Novak, a mother, wife and supermarket manager, who becomes governor of New Jersey.
That’s not all. Mistresses, about three women friends since college starring Charmed’s Holly Marie Combs and Drop Dead Diva, about a dead model who comes back to life as a brainy but frumpy lawyer are also coming soon, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
But don’t worry longtime Lifetime fans – the Golden Girls aren’t going anywhere.
