Las Vegas is cleaning up its act—literally—with bathhouse-inspired restaurant and nightclub Lavo. With Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am at the DJ booth or surprise performances from Busta Rhymes, this club has had a long list of celebrity guests since it’s opening nearly two years ago.
The slew of stars that party here include Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds, Shannen Doherty, Angie Harmon, Selita Eubanks, Mario Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Kevin Connolly and Paris Hilton.
In Latin, ‘lavo’ means to bathe, therefore fitting that the Mediterranean styled space features water basins and mosaic tiling. The 4500 square foot nightclub features DJs Vice, Reach, Galleano and Berrie with a six nights a week from 10 PM to 5 AM.
Lavo is the newest nightclub from the innovators who brought Las Vegas Tao, another celebrity-friendly venue. You can find Lavo housed within the luxurious Palazzo Resort and Casino. This is the club to wash away your sins.
It’s now officially 2009, and you know what that means: New Year’s resolutions. But, we aren’t the only ones who make resolutions – celebrities do too. Most probably want to lose weight or quit smoking like most people do; but, here’s Positively Celebrity’s ideas for how celebrities can improve their lives and careers in 2009.
Expectant moms like Jennifer Garner and “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Chyler Leigh:
Name babies normal names instead of the crazy baby names of 2008 like Ashlee Simpson’s son, Bronx Mowgli, and Gwen Stefani’s son, Zuma Nesta Rock.
Screen Actors Guild members and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers:
Come to a resolution regarding DVD residuals and online video so there will not be another strike like the 100-day writer’s strike in late 2007 and early 2008 that halted production of scripted shows and brought an onslaught of tacky reality shows.
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan:
Follow Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s lead in “Revolutionary Road” by reuniting one of America’s favorite on-screen couples.
Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron:
Take advantage of your fortunate successes of starring in 2008’s “Twilight” and “High School Musical 3” by not screwing up like many other young newly minted movie stars. Ahem Shia LaBeouf and Lindsay Lohan.
The “Friends” cast:
Reunite for a successful big-screen adaptation of their show like the women of “Sex and the City” did in 2008.
Shows like “Heroes” and “Grey’s Anatomy”:
Cut the convoluted and crazy storylines and remind us why we initially loved them.
Mike Myers, Al Pacino, Meg Ryan, Amy Winehouse, and Janet Jackson:
Plan a comeback for 2009. The kind of comebacks that Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Tom Cruise, and Britney Spears all enjoyed in 2008.
Long time couples like Fergie and Josh Duhamel, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, Amy Adams and Darren Legallo, and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ross McCall:
Get married in 2009 and upstage the 2008 nuptials of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, and Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds.
The 31-year-old actor ran in the New York City Marathon on Sunday, and finished in less than four hours. His new bride Scarlett Johansson was there to cheer him on along the way.
“I’m still standing. I’m very excited about that,” he told reporters at the end.
The first-time marathoner was celebrity chair of Team Fox. Along with 130 team members, he ran to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease research and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Reynolds finished 9,646th overall by running the 26.2 miles in three hours, 50 minutes and 22 seconds. The Canadian actor called himself “a running joke,” but was inspired to run by his father’s struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
“When I saw Michael J. Fox on Fifth Avenue, I gained about 15 pounds in goose bumps. It kind of pushed me through the last six miles or so,” said Reynolds.
Overall Reynolds raised more than $80,000 for Parkinson’s research, and together with his Marathon team an incredible $500,000 total reports the official Michael J. Fox Foundation website.
Us Weekly was the first to report on the quickie-wedding of Vicki Christina Barcelona star Scarlett Johannson to her fiancé Van Wilder star Ryan Reynolds.
The pair wed in an unpretentious and intimate setting at a resort in Reynold’s native Vancouver, Canada. The affair included close family and friends including Johannson’s mother Melanie Sloan and brother Adrian Johannson.
Johannson previously commented on her May engagement, “So, you know, we’re just taking it easy. And no big plan yet. But it’s a good time and we’re just … enjoying our time to be young and engaged.”
However, news of the shotgun wedding confirmed by Johannson’s publicist Meredith O’Sullivan shocked the entertainment community.
This is the first marriage for both Scarlett, 23 and Ryan, 31.
As of Saturday evening Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are officially man and wife. The nuptials took place outside Vancouver in the groom’s native Canada, reports E! News. With few details being released yet, it was no doubt an intimate affair.
This was the first wedding for both Johansson, 23, and Reynolds, 31, who had been engaged since May and dating since spring 2007. Reynolds had, however, been previously engaged to singer Alanis Morissette.
Johansson announced their engagement on May 5 at the Met Costume Ball Gala by showcasing her three-carat diamond ring (estimated to be worth about $30,000) US Magazine reports.
