Back-bearing dresses are beautiful and very much in style.
But they also pose the annoying task of going bra-less. And for some of us, that is simply not an option. The strapless bra is great for underneath shoulder-bearing dresses and tops, but when it comes to backless it is hard to find a bra that won’t show!
A red-carpet look is never complete if your ‘girls’ don’t look good too! Whether you want an extra boost or support, these great new products work wonders to keep you perky and poised.
If you are already have a perky set, consider yourself lucky. Even so, you still might want to consider wearing nipple covers to make for a smoother silouette, but also to prevent anything from slipping out. Beautiful You Breast Petals, will run you about $10 and are discreet under any outfit.
If you’re looking for a little boost in the chest department, you can still have your chicken cutlets! NuBra makes a sticky silicone gel bra, for about $40, that pads and pushes you up at the same time. However, from experience this bra works best on breasts smaller than a C cup, or else the result is not very flattering.
A larger rack requires a little support. Sassybax boasts that their Very Bare Backless bra, $78, is a favorite of stars such as Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez and works for sizes AA to DD! Their bras come in black or nude and have the look of a strapless bra, but with sticky tabs on the side to hold everything in place.
If you’re looking for a little lift, products like Bare Lifts and Liftys have been featured on television from informercials to the Today Show and promise to give you the look of a breast lift without the pain or the price of surgery. Essentially, it is ‘bra tape’ you use to adjust your breasts in place where you want them. Sound strange? Well, just check out the infomercial! They can cost from $10 to $20 and are transparent for an invisible look under a dress.
Now you can rock that backless look and stand confident (shoulders back, chest out!) For the best prices, check out Amazon.com to order:

First the Olsen twins with Olsenboye, now it’s MNG by Mango coming to J.C. Penney with two of the hottest women in Hollywood (matter of fact, hottest in the world if you ask me) on their team.
Penelope Cruz (who is a big fan of Mango’s sexy and sultry Spanish fashions) also took part in the design process. Scarlett Johansson will also be featured in MNG by Mango’s ad campaign, as well as being the spokesmodel for the fashionable brand.
MNG by Mango will launch exclusively to be in 77 J.C. Penney stores this Fall, and will eventually launch in over 600 stores by late 2011.
With new MNG by Mango products flowing into J.C. Penney’s more than once a month, it will practically be as if Mango had their own store inside the uber-department! That’s why the company has opted for the store-within-a-store concept similar to how Sephora is set up inside many of the same stores.
The line showcases a variety of styles, from edgy to sophisticated to girly to rocker!
Go to the J.C. Penney website to see if a store near you will carry MNG by Mango this fall.

Each year, more and more of Hollywood’s biggest names go to Comic-Con to confirm movie deal rumors. My favorite one from this weekend comes from the people at Marvel Comics. Mark Ruffalo officially confirmed his role in the upcoming comic book film ‘The Avengers’. Ruffalo will be playing the role of ‘The Hulk’.
The Hulk was previously played by Edward Norton in the character’s title film. Producers had originally offered the role to Norton once again before deciding on Ruffalo. It has been rumored that Norton was offered a low salary after having been very difficult to work with on the ‘The Hulk’. Norton and Marvel disputed both privately and publicly over the film’s final cut before Marvel ultimately won. Once the film was released, Marvel was disappointed by Norton’s lack of promotion.
One of the most likeable men in Hollywood, Ruffalo is sure to deliver on every level in ‘The Avengers’. He is a notoriously nice guy with real acting chops. The movie is sure to kill at the box office with its all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard in the role of War Machine for ‘Iron Man 2′, but it is not yet decided weather he will continue in the role for ‘The Avengers’.
Las Vegas is cleaning up its act—literally—with bathhouse-inspired restaurant and nightclub Lavo. With Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am at the DJ booth or surprise performances from Busta Rhymes, this club has had a long list of celebrity guests since it’s opening nearly two years ago.
The slew of stars that party here include Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds, Shannen Doherty, Angie Harmon, Selita Eubanks, Mario Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Kevin Connolly and Paris Hilton.
In Latin, ‘lavo’ means to bathe, therefore fitting that the Mediterranean styled space features water basins and mosaic tiling. The 4500 square foot nightclub features DJs Vice, Reach, Galleano and Berrie with a six nights a week from 10 PM to 5 AM.
Lavo is the newest nightclub from the innovators who brought Las Vegas Tao, another celebrity-friendly venue. You can find Lavo housed within the luxurious Palazzo Resort and Casino. This is the club to wash away your sins.
There are some Woody Allen movies that are so good, you can’t think of anything more endearing (Crimes & Misdemeanors, Annie Hall, Match Point, even Scoop). Unfortunately, there are also some that miss the mark so completely that you can‘t think of anything more frustrating (Deconstructing Harry, Celebrity, and his latest flop, Vicky Cristina Barcelona).
Vicky Cristina Barcelona is only mildly entertaining despite standout performances from Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. The story sets up a love triangle by placing its protagonists, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson) in Barcelona for the summer. Vicky is engaged to another American named Doug.
After meeting a Spanish painter named Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem), Vicky is unimpressed initially and further annoyed that her friend, Cristina, is swept away by his (not so) alluring charm. This soon changes after they spend a night out together and conclude the night making love. Vicky acknowledges the night as a mistake, but can’t stop thinking about Juan Antonio. The feeling is reciprocal, but Juan Antonio begins dating Christina because she is the ‘sure thing.’ To make matters more complex, Allen introduces his first love interest, Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz) into the proceedings, resulting in a three way love affair between her, Cristina, and Juan Antonio.
Maria Elena is just a little off her rocker. She attempts to kill herself unsuccessfully, before coming to stay with Juan Antonio (who by this time is living with his main squeeze, Cristina). A combustible situation like this can only last so long before blowing up and it does in a not so hilarious fashion.
The conclusion of this movie is so unsatisfying that I can’t put it into words. Also, I would have hated seeing this in the theater because the subtitles go by so fast that you can’t follow the Spanish being said. One of the best parts of the movie was Juan Antonio’s insistence that Maria Elena please speak English while staying in his house. That is about the only time I was sincerely amused. Oh well, Woody, I guess you can’t hit ‘em out the park every time.
It’s now officially 2009, and you know what that means: New Year’s resolutions. But, we aren’t the only ones who make resolutions – celebrities do too. Most probably want to lose weight or quit smoking like most people do; but, here’s Positively Celebrity’s ideas for how celebrities can improve their lives and careers in 2009.
Expectant moms like Jennifer Garner and “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Chyler Leigh:
Name babies normal names instead of the crazy baby names of 2008 like Ashlee Simpson’s son, Bronx Mowgli, and Gwen Stefani’s son, Zuma Nesta Rock.
Screen Actors Guild members and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers:
Come to a resolution regarding DVD residuals and online video so there will not be another strike like the 100-day writer’s strike in late 2007 and early 2008 that halted production of scripted shows and brought an onslaught of tacky reality shows.
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan:
Follow Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s lead in “Revolutionary Road” by reuniting one of America’s favorite on-screen couples.
Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron:
Take advantage of your fortunate successes of starring in 2008’s “Twilight” and “High School Musical 3” by not screwing up like many other young newly minted movie stars. Ahem Shia LaBeouf and Lindsay Lohan.
The “Friends” cast:
Reunite for a successful big-screen adaptation of their show like the women of “Sex and the City” did in 2008.
Shows like “Heroes” and “Grey’s Anatomy”:
Cut the convoluted and crazy storylines and remind us why we initially loved them.
Mike Myers, Al Pacino, Meg Ryan, Amy Winehouse, and Janet Jackson:
Plan a comeback for 2009. The kind of comebacks that Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Tom Cruise, and Britney Spears all enjoyed in 2008.
Long time couples like Fergie and Josh Duhamel, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, Amy Adams and Darren Legallo, and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ross McCall:
Get married in 2009 and upstage the 2008 nuptials of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, and Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds.
Instead of talking about the Harry Potter’s, 2012’s or The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’s of 2009 that are so far away from hitting theaters it seems like they won’t premiere until … well 2012, we’re going to look at five upcoming flicks that will be at a theater near you before the Obama’s have time to fully move in.
Bride Wars – Opening January 9, 2009. There’s nothing like sharing wedding plans with a best girlfriend, but when plans start to overlap, it’s likely to evoke more nightmares than Freddy Krueger. “Wars” seems to have a bouquet of comedic potential as well as girls in white dresses – fighting. But before all the guys zone out this movie does offer something for them too. Two of the prettiest actresses in Hollywood – Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson.
Taken – Opening January 30, 2009. Staring Liam Neeson as an ex-Secret Agent who has to rescue his estranged daughter (former “Lost” star Maggie Grace) who was kiddnapped while in Paris. As reviewer Mr. Green from CrimeCritics.com describes, “it’s a film in which you enjoy watching HOW he will succeed. And let me state, you will enjoy every punch Bryan (Neeson) delivers to every henchmen.”
Fanboys – Opening February 6, 2009. I think “Fanboys” will be the “Superbad” of 2009. Yes, it’s about a group of “Star Wars” fans set to break into George Lucas’ business headquarters, Skywalker Ranch, and steal a copy of “Star Wars Episode 1.” Before you groan at the sound of a Sci-Fi movie, know that it’s really a coming of age story about friends who take a huge risk for one of their own. To lend some credibility, Producers include Kevin Spacey and the Weinstein Company.
He’s Just Not That Into You – Opening February 9, 2009. This chick flick makes the list because: 1) it’s based on a NY Times Best Seller, Oprah endorsed book and 2) EVERYONE is in it. That’s no exaggeration. Here’s just some of the cast: Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love), Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly (The Day The Earth Stood Still), Scarlett Johansson, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, Justin Long (Mac commercials), Bradley Cooper (Wedding Crashers), Sasha Alexander (Yes Man), Kevin Connolly (Entourage), and MANY others.
Push – Opening February 9, 2009. Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans and Djimon Hounsou star in this film about “psychic espionage.” A Government agency is genetically modifying people to have psychic abilities and “getting rid” of those who don’t want to participate. Fanning and Evans need to find an individual who could help end the dangerous agency. So, Government Misconduct + Exotic Location (Hong Kong) + Psychic, Telekinetic, Move Stuff With Your Mind Abilities + The Cinematographer Who Did “Donnie Brasco,” “Gangster No. 1,” “Wicker Park” & “Lucky Number Slevin” = A Must See Movie!
The 31-year-old actor ran in the New York City Marathon on Sunday, and finished in less than four hours. His new bride Scarlett Johansson was there to cheer him on along the way.
“I’m still standing. I’m very excited about that,” he told reporters at the end.
The first-time marathoner was celebrity chair of Team Fox. Along with 130 team members, he ran to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease research and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Reynolds finished 9,646th overall by running the 26.2 miles in three hours, 50 minutes and 22 seconds. The Canadian actor called himself “a running joke,” but was inspired to run by his father’s struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
“When I saw Michael J. Fox on Fifth Avenue, I gained about 15 pounds in goose bumps. It kind of pushed me through the last six miles or so,” said Reynolds.
Overall Reynolds raised more than $80,000 for Parkinson’s research, and together with his Marathon team an incredible $500,000 total reports the official Michael J. Fox Foundation website.
Us Weekly was the first to report on the quickie-wedding of Vicki Christina Barcelona star Scarlett Johannson to her fiancé Van Wilder star Ryan Reynolds.
The pair wed in an unpretentious and intimate setting at a resort in Reynold’s native Vancouver, Canada. The affair included close family and friends including Johannson’s mother Melanie Sloan and brother Adrian Johannson.
Johannson previously commented on her May engagement, “So, you know, we’re just taking it easy. And no big plan yet. But it’s a good time and we’re just … enjoying our time to be young and engaged.”
However, news of the shotgun wedding confirmed by Johannson’s publicist Meredith O’Sullivan shocked the entertainment community.
This is the first marriage for both Scarlett, 23 and Ryan, 31.
